General Overview

Welcome to beautiful Bargara — a relaxed coastal village where life moves at the perfect holiday pace. Our area is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear water and beautiful coastline. Within minutes you’ll find both quiet, uncrowded stretches of sand and a patrolled swimming beach, perfect for families, with a connecting lagoon for safe swimming. Whether you’re an early-morning ocean dipper, a sunset walker or someone who simply loves the sound of waves at night that you can hear in our home, Bargara is a great town to stay. Just up from our main beach (Kelly’s beach), is Mon Repos, one of Australia’s most important turtle nesting sites. From October to March you can witness loggerhead turtles nesting on the beach, and if you’re lucky, see tiny hatchlings making their incredible journey to the sea. It’s a truly unforgettable experience and one of the region’s most special natural wonders. Our local Archie’s beach can surprise you at sunset where you can spontaneously see a turtle nesting. Bargara offers a wonderful mix of laid-back charm and convenience — beachfront cafés, local boutiques, scenic coastal walking and bike paths that link Bargara to Mon Repos and Burnett Heads (the Port of Bundaberg), plus stretches south toward Innes Park and Elliot Heads. There are also two golf courses nearby for those wanting to tee off by the coast. Just 20 minutes away, Bundaberg adds even more to explore. Famous for its iconic rum distillery, as well as locally brewed ginger beer, gin, craft beer and cider, it’s a vibrant regional city surrounded by rich farmland growing sugarcane, macadamias and seasonal produce. Fresh fruit and vegetables are available from roadside stalls and the popular weekly Sunday Market in Bundaberg. For an unforgettable day trip, head out to Lady Musgrave Island on the Southern Great Barrier Reef for snorkelling and diving in pristine waters. During winter (July to September), whale watching tours offer the chance to see majestic humpback whales along the coastline. With easy access from Brisbane by car (approximately 4.5 hours), train or an hour flight, and local transport servicing the Bargara and Bundaberg area, this region combines natural beauty, wildlife (kangaroo) encounters and relaxed coastal living — all in one very special place.

The Space

Our spacious, single-level brick bungalow with a private pool offers relaxed coastal living at its best. With three bedrooms available (we have a five bedroom home, yet typically offer the three bedrooms, a fourth bedroom can be made available on request), the home comfortably accommodates 6–8 guests, making it ideal for families or small groups. Just 300 metres from the beach and lagoon, you’re perfectly positioned to enjoy morning swims and sunset strolls. The Cul-de-saq road leads to a small grassy park with little playground. Inside, the home features an open-plan layout with a spacious open plan kitchen, generous dining area and activity room space, creating plenty of room for everyone to spread out and unwind. Step outside to the alfresco entertaining area overlooking the pool — the perfect spot for long lunches, evening drinks and lazy holiday afternoons. With two bathrooms and a light, airy feel throughout, the home is designed for comfort, convenience and easy coastal living.

Getting Around

The local shops at Bargara central is just 5 mins away by car or 10 mins by bicycle. You will find two supermarkets, cafes and restaurants and a hardware store, cute little boutiques and cafes along the esplanade at the beach. Travel recommendations to make the most of your stay in SE Queensland: In SE Queensland, where we are, we recommend flying into Brisbane, then driving up to visit Noosa (Sunshine Coast), Rainbow beach with Tincan Bay where you can feed wild dolphins, Fraser Island (K'gari) with its beautiful pools, Bargara (where we are) with Mon Repos to see turtles hatch on the beach (Jan-March), climb Mount Walsh, then you could do the islands such as Lady Elliot island or Lady Musgrave to snorkel with turtles and manta rays and see the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef). You could also relax at our home and spend time at the pool, nearby beaches and cycle the coastal tracks. You’ll enjoy the area no matter what you plan for yourself!
