Neighbourhood

The house is located in a walkable, village-style area that blends local life with easy access to Hoi An’s highlights. From the front door, you can walk to local restaurants, small shops, the river, coconut basket boats, organic gardens and farms, cooking classes, and Ba Le Market. We’re situated roughly halfway between Hoi An Old Town and the beaches, making it easy to explore both directions by bike, scooter, or Grab. The neighborhood feels safe, friendly, and lived-in, with a mix of local families and long-term residents rather than short-term tourists. It’s an ideal base for those who want to experience everyday life in central Vietnam while still being close to cultural sites, food, and nature.

Da Nang International Airport (DAD), approximately 45 minutes away by car.

Getting Around

The area is easy to get around by bike, scooter, or Grab. Many daily needs are within walking distance, including food, markets, and local services. Old Town, beaches, and larger shops are a short ride away.

Jaretta

We’re a full-time traveling family duo, Jaretta (mom) and Riley, living a slow, intentional life shaped by curiosity, care, and respect for the places we call home, even temporarily. We’ve been traveling full-time since 2018 and have extensive experience throughout North America and internationally. We’re currently establishing a long-term home base in central Vietnam, which we use as our primary anchor while continuing to travel intentionally. This base provides routine, community, and stability, especially important for homeschooling and family life, while still allowing us the flexibility that full-time travel affords. I’m a retired military veteran, and these days my focus is homeschooling Riley and giving her the chance to learn directly from the world around her. We maintain legal residency in Washington State in the US and are comfortable with both short- and long-term exchanges. Clear communication, mutual respect, and reliability are values we take seriously. While we’re new to home exchange, we’re experienced housesitters with a long track record of caring for homes an d pets responsibly and communicating clearly with hosts. We treat every home and animal with the same attentiveness and respect we expect for our own. We’re an active family who loves the outdoors: hiking, beach days, tide pooling, forest walks, and rock collecting are favorites. Riley is especially fascinated by space, rocks and gems, dinosaurs, and cats. We also enjoy attending sporting events, but we’re just as happy with quiet days at home: cooking, baking, reading, playing games, dancing around the living room, and settling in for a relaxed evening. Home, for us, is a grounding space. We’re thoughtful, tidy guests who value routine and leaving places well cared for. We’re especially well-suited to calm, family-friendly homes and exchanges built on trust and open communication.
