General Overview
Comfortable Half-Timbered House in the Heart of Germany We are an experienced home exchange family – together with my parents, we’ve completed more than 55 wonderful swaps since 1999 and look forward to many more adventures. We’re always open to exploring new places and welcome exchange offers from all over the world. Our home is located in Otzberg, a friendly village community in Hesse, Germany, surrounded by fields, forest, and rolling hills – a peaceful place to relax, recharge, and enjoy a good night’s sleep. Within 45 minutes, you can reach some of Germany’s most charming destinations: The romantic university city of Heidelberg with its famous castle and old town Darmstadt, full of beautiful Art Nouveau treasures The vibrant Frankfurt am Main, known for its skyline, museums, and lively cultural scene The Bergstrasse wine region, the ancient Roman Limes, and the scenic Odenwald and Spessart forests with endless hiking and cycling routes It’s easy to see why we chose this place as our home base – perfectly located for both nature lovers and culture seekers. Thanks to Frankfurt Airport nearby, the world is within reach – and at the same time, you can enjoy true countryside tranquility here. When you’re not out exploring, you can relax at home.

Our area in the foothills of the Odenwald is full of little adventures waiting to be discovered. Families love exploring the Felsenmeer, a magical “sea of rocks” where kids can climb, jump, and imagine dragons and giants from old legends. There are castles like Veste Otzberg with panoramic views, forest trails for hiking or biking, and cozy restaurants serving homemade German food. In summer, you can visit nearby swimming lakes, open-air pools, and charming local festivals. It’s a region where nature, history, and fun come together – perfect for curious children and adults alike.

Guest Access
Our lovely home was once the former chicken coop of a larger manor estate and has been thoughtfully converted into a charming house arranged over three floors.
You enter the house at the level of the basement/utility room. A first staircase leads you up to our cosy kitchen-diner, and the next half-flight brings you to the bathroom and the living room.
In the living room there is a mezzanine (gallery level), which is ideal for reading or can also be used as an additional sleeping area for one more guest. The living room opens onto a very large terrace, furnished with two exceptionally comfortable loungers, a great outdoor table, chairs, and two parasols. You will also find our barbecue grill there.
Up the next half-flight of stairs, you reach the bedroom. In total, the house can accommodate up to four guests and 2 kids.
Notes
If you don't want to clean at the end, a cleaner could come if you wish. She charge us 60€.

Pohl Family
We are: Nina and Torsten, both 52 years old, and our dear, adult daughters Lilith and Clara. We also have a 27-year-old son, Rasmus. He did his first house exchange at the age of 13 months, in 1999. We start the HomeLink exchange program in 1998 and join people like us in 2020. Most of the time we are only with our girls or our children are sometimes alone.
Our house is very well equipped and we like our furniture and decoration.
We like our home very much and prepare everything for you with all our love.
We have seen many wonderful places and really like the whole house exchange idea. We love to furnish our home for you, prepare a welcome dinner and a welcome gift.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
