Our neighborhood has something for everyone, with all the perks of feeling like a local. It’s a great base to explore central Athens (3km from Syntagma Square, 2.5 km to the south slope of the Akropolis) and that’s why we love it. We adore our area because there are no tourist traps with authentic tavernas and cafes. Just a 6 minute walk through the plateia and you are at the Dafni Metro station that takes you 5 minutes to the Akropolis (M2, red line, no transfers)
You'll be far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Athens, but close enough to go in by foot, taxi, bus or Metro for the day or for a few hours. You can choose your own adventure here, by starting your day at the beach, going into the city for shopping & brunch, and then ending the evening at an open-air theatre performance or a fabulous taverna or mezze meal in Dafni's plateia Iroon.
Dafni-Ymittos is a central Athens urban residential area that is full of cafes, lively pedestrian squares, a weekly Wednesday farmer's market year-round, refreshing fountains for kids to play in, playgrounds, tavernas, shops, markets -all by foot to enjoy the sunshine days of Athens. There is even a Michelin-star restaurant, just a 2 minute walk from the house, nestled between the two best local souvlaki pita grills, so there is something for every budget and interest. Let the kids play at the playground next to your alfresco grilled meal at Steki Tou Kosta:

We get around with public transportation everywhere, even to the closest beaches in Alimos (8km) for a morning or sunset dip, for live music gigs, or nightclub beach bars like Bolivar, etc. Otherwise, you can order a cab via FreeNow.
We are a short walking distance through Plateia Iroon to the 'Red line' M2 Metro that takes you 5 minutes to the Akropolis where you can walk to Plaka, Monastiraki and beyond, or you could walk (35 minutes -not so scenic) to the Akropolis slopes, if you feel like exploring different Athenian neighborhoods like Agios Ioannis, Sygrou Fix, Koukaki, etc.
You are also 3km to Vyronas Forest Mountain area, a 50 minute walk from the flat.
We can happily send you a Google map of recommended places around our neighborhood and beyond, as well as useful links for seasonal events.
Athens Airport is 32km away.
Most everything is walkable by foot.
