My ancestral hometown goes beyond the crowded piazzas and tourist sites to offer a sanctuary of Italian culture and natural splendor. Walking throughout the town to pick up freshly made bread in the morning you will discover a hidden gem where history is etched into every stone and hand painted along the benches throughout the town. Experience a village of 1,500 souls, defined by its 17th-century ceramic heritage and framed by majestic green mountains. If you’re seeking inspiration in the authentic, the ancient, and the serene, your journey begins here. It's an artist refuge for those needing to stop the clock and dedicate time to yourself. There are several local ceramists that offer workshops, vineyards for wine tastings, and thermal spas for holistic healing.

Neighbourhood
San Lorenzello is tradition, art and pleasure for the senses. The historic centre, which preserves its medieval urban layout, is characterized by small squares, narrow streets and ancient mansions dating back to the 17th-18th centuries. Places to visit include the Church of Maria S.S. della Sanità, with its precious 18th-century majolica, and the parish church annexed to the former Carmelite Convent, currently housing the Permanent Exhibition of Ancient and Modern Ceramics. The village invites visitors to discover the workshops, where the 18th-century tradition of ceramics is handed down from father to son and where it is possible to witness the production of a wide range of majolica artefacts, appreciated all over the world. In San Lorenzello, every last weekend of the month, the antiques fair, MercAntico, takes place, during which the numerous visitors can browse among jewellery, furniture and furnishings and taste typical products, including taralli (m'scuott) with oil, suet, pepper, sugar, plain or twisted. Finally, you can walk through the woods of Mount Erbano, so called because it is rich in medicinal and aromatic herbs.
Getting to my home
By car – from Rome
To drive from Rome to San Lorenzello, expect about a 2.5 to 3-hour trip (around 200 km), primarily using the A1 highway towards Naples and then connecting to smaller roads, often via Telese Terme or Benevento, making it the most direct way compared to buses or trains, though be mindful of Rome's traffic and potential ZTL zones.
By train there are several trains from Rome that get you to Benevento and from there a local train to Telese Terme will bring you closest to town. It is then a 15 minute ride to town.
