We've built a beautiful A-frame home from wood and glass at 800m elevation up in the mountains of the Carpathians (central-west Romania) and have a big greenhouse full of vegetables, plus fruit and nut trees all around. It is a very peaceful place, you can only hear the birds and the river in the valley. Once you step outside you are in the forest and have many hiking options everywhere. Every day you can enjoy the sunset from the balcony or house as the sun dips behind the mountain range. We also have an off-road car to use for forest road adventures. There's a lot to do in the surrounding areas!
We have nice neighbours who speak English (as well as French, Italian and Spanish) and are a helpful community. The region is one of the most biodiverse in Europe, perfect for foraging.
We have a big fireplace in the house which we use daily, and plenty of wood. There are also over 100 plants and a great sound sytem and record collection.
Plus, we have 3 loving and young dogs. A brother and sister (half border collie/half Slovakian hound) whose parents and other siblings live above at our neighbours, and a big Carpathian Shepherd who makes you feel safe.
The Space
Open plan house, two floors, with the top floor being open so you can enjoy the view from bed or the armchair. Second bedroom downstairs with a view of the forest behind the house. 1 acre of land with a fence around it. There is a basement which has BBQ's and a firepit/fireplace outside as well. We also have a self made Tipi in the corner of the land, place to chill, and a basketball hoop in the parking area.
Guest Access
Drive up the 3km road and then go downhill 100m into our parking area.
Notes
A car is required. We have two cars, both 4x4, one is a proper off-road Suzuki. You don't need a 4x4 to get to the house and we can help with car exchange potentially.

Neighbourhood
Nature, nature, beautiful views and more nature. Neighbours are very dispersed so usually you don't see anyone, aside from tourists sometimes hiking, or the neighbours cows, goats or horse walking on the adjacent land.
About 45mins away you have a thermal waters spa/swimming pool place.
Getting to my home
There are five airports all within 3 hours drive away.
Timisoara, Cluj, Sibiu, Oradea, Arad. Budapest is about 5 hours away. You have to drive to a town called Brad (which has two supermarkets, Lidl & Penny, and a farmers market).

Getting Around
Must drive. There is a small shop in the village at the bottom of the valley, but it doesn't have much. Best to do a big supermarket shop before getting here. Closest town is 40min drive away.

We are a couple who speak six languages between us and love to learn about all cultures and peoples of the world. We live in the heart of the mountains in the Carpathians (central-west Romania) and grow a lot of our own food. We have three dogs who love people, and food! We often travel to Portugal to visit my son (10 years old) and want to give him great life experiences. We love cooking, nature, art, travelling, reading, music and sharing beautiful experiences with people.
"Looking to ideally exchange homes, for at least a week during this time. Can be South of Lisbon or North, very open to the area."
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
