Neighbourhood
We live in a quiet neighborhood at the end of the street. It feels very secluded, and you won’t see any other people unless someone is staying in the attached apartment downstairs (we use it as a vacation rental and for PLU).
Brewers Beach is a 3-4 minute drive down the mountain and is a favorite “locals” beach (also the best beach on the island to see sea turtles).
Just around the corner from our neighborhood is the Santa Maria beach path. Santa Maria is a pristine, gorgeous beach, which is only accessible by hiking or by boat, so there is usually no one there (or maybe 2 or 3 people). The hike is about 15 minutes down and 20-25 up. You need to be in shape for this one, but it’s worth the effort! This is also the beach that our house overlooks.
Ten minutes from the house you’ll find Frenchtown, which has an interesting history, as well as lots of fantastic restaurants and the ferry dock for day trips to Water Island and St. John.
Nearest airport
Cyril E. King Airport is 8 minutes away.
Getting around
Many visitors to the island take taxis everywhere - we drive on the left, with the steering wheel also on the left, and it can take some getting used to. Taxis charge per person and the rates are posted online. We also have a Nissan Leaf electric car that we could exchange (seats five).

We had the most lovely exchange with Caroline and her family. We stayed in their separate basement rental while they were home. The basement rental had everything we needed and some more, like water gear, beach chairs, etc. Caroline thought of it all! The space was clean and the AC was great!
Since they were home in St Thomas, we got to know each other and even shared a lovely dinner one night on their patio with amazing ocean views. Our kids were similar ages. They enjoyed playing with each other and hung out every chance they could get.
Caroline and her family are great, laid-back exchangers. They were friendly and helpful with whatever questions we had about the area. I would gladly exchange with them again and welcome them back to my home anytime. In fact, we made loose plans on when they'd like to come back to our city 😊
Both Caroline’s home and St.Thomas islands was fantastic! We had one of the best Vacay!! we were staying in 2Br guest house with million dollar ocean view for a week while Caroline and her family was staying in main house. Two homes separate entry and full privacy. The guest house has balcony with amazing view also shower and livingroom. Guest house was fully updated and things are all new ish. Home was clean and tidy and everything was very comfortable.
The best part is we get to spend time together and Caroline’s son and our son played all day together and they had so much fun! St. Thomas offers beautiful beaches and one of the best snorkeling. Water is calm, clean and lots of fishes and sea creatures available. Also 30mins ferry, you can visit St.John. Another beautiful island with amazing beaches and trails!
Thank you so much for hosting us and we really appreciate for your excellent hospitality! We can’t wait to gather together again with you guys in the future.
We were so lucky to have arranged an exchange with Caroline. She was easy to communicate with and so kind to let us not only stay at their lovely home but also allowed us to use their car. We truly felt like locals and enjoyed our first home exchange experience. Her home was spacious, well organized and had the most amazing views from the patio. The location is perfect for exploring the island and very close to the ferry to visit St. John which we did. We all had a fantastic time and can't wait to return to St. Thomas. Thank you Caroline for sharing your home with us.
Carolines house is amazing! It is truly an island paradise; you can even walk to a secluded beach. Her and her family were the best hosts and gave us so much information for our trip. We are so grateful they let us stay in their home, and we especially enjoyed the company of their amazing pets!
It was our pleasure to have Caroline and her family as our first home exchange guest. She stayed during the coldest week so far and didn't complain :) Always very responsive and respectful of the house. So happy that the family was able to enjoy the snowy Poconos during the holidays. You're most welcome back anytime.
We arranged a 2-week non-sim exchange with Caroline, her husband, and her 2 boys. She came to my home in St. Louis, Missouri, USA first and we will go to her home late 2023. We had a lovely video chat and got to know each other a little before the exchange. They are a nice family that have lived in several cool places. They were respectful of our home and returned it clean and tidy. We agreed to a car exchange and our car was also returned clean and damage-free. Thanks for taking care of our home. We look forward to visiting St. Thomas!
Caroline and family is an excellent guests.
I had a great communication with Caroline, it was so pleasure to getting know her and family.
We are so happy that two kids were happy with our home and Dallas. They had so much fun and didn’t want to leave :) Caroline! You guys are always welcome back in Dallas. Hopefully we get to meet in person one day.
Thanks for coming and stay in our place, we are looking forward to stay in your beautiful home!
Dana and her family were wonderful guests! We were so happy to be home while they stayed in our guest house so we could spend some time with them. Dana cooked an amazing Korean barbecue for all of us to share, and we all loved it. Our son, Rhys, spent the whole week playing with Dana’s and Moon’s son, Won, and going on outings with their family. I think he was ready to move to Dallas with them! If you have a chance to exchange with Dana, don’t hesitate!
Marina and her family took excellent care of our home and car. They even dealt with the contents of our freezer when it suddenly stopped working! Marina was in frequent contact and sent me updates of everything going on at the house. They left things clean and tidy, which was much appreciated.
We spent a week at Marina’s lovely Pennsylvania home. Everything was clean and new. We had a fire in the wood fireplace every day, and did lots of baking in the kitchen. There was snow during our trip, and our kids had a great time playing outside. The local deer came right up to the deck and ate apples and carrots out of our hands. We didn’t explore the area much, since our goal was just some cozy family time, but we did check out the trampoline park nearby, and the kids had a blast.
So glad that you enjoyed our home during a beautiful snowy wintertime. Loved exchanging with your family.
We had a wonderful stay at Tina’s home in St.Louis. We could easily have spent longer than the two weeks we were there. There are so many parks, playgrounds, and nature trails to explore, in addition to all the museums and other kids’ activities. Tina’s home is absolutely lovely, and they have thought of everything! We actually bought a robot vacuum/mop after using the one at their house.
Tina’s was so helpful and responsive to any questions we had (even from across the Atlantic while she was on vacation). We felt very welcome and loved our time there.
Gina and her family took good care of our home and pets. We were very happy to have them stay and look forward to staying at their home in the future.
We had a wonderful time at Dana’s home! Everything was so clean and we had everything we needed. We felt so welcome. Our boys spent hours driving the toy vehicles around the back garden and swinging in the swing in the front. They played with the toys, did art projects, and read lots of books. And that’s just while we were at the house!
Kevin and I thoroughly enjoyed the massage chair and the lovely patio at the house. There were so many stores nearby to do all the shopping we needed, and my day at the Dallas Spa Castle was heavenly.
There was so much to do in Dallas, that we couldn’t fit it all into our one week stay, so we’ll definitely be returning. We went to the Dallas zoo, the Perot science and nature museum, Epic Waters water park, the Arboretum, and several playgrounds and indoor play places. The boys loved it all and didn’t want to leave!
We had no idea Dallas had so much to offer, and we’re so glad Dana reached out to us about an exchange!
