My studio is the former master bedroom, in which I integrated a foldable ergonomic mattress on the floor, surround by my art works.
Sunset on the beach at 15 minutes walk from my doorstep.
The beach and its fishermen run makeshift restaurants on it.
An authentic catamaran of which sometimes you can see a entire fleet on the horizon passing by in teh dry season.
Me at the Goldi Sands Hotels restaurant on the Beach road.
The very cosy ergonomic mattress which you can also turn into a couch or a comfy chair anywhere in the apartment.
View on my studio/ex-master bedroom from the terrace outside. I put in those mosquito/fly window screens.
The terrace with view on my lane, I had long curtains but the storms and recent cyclone ripped them apart.
View on the St-Anne's lane, used to be quiet when I arrived here, but after Covid-19 finished, it has been used as a shortcut and thus became noisier. I am high sensitive, I cannot sleep in my studio anymore, so I moved to the bedroom with queen-size bed in the back of the apartment by the canal, where every morning you are woken up by songbirds and every other day the church bells from the St-Anne Church.
My landlady's garden and gate.
Left west side of my living room with door to the art studio and terrace.
East side of the living room with door to the balcony with view on teh Hamilton canal also known as the Dutch canal.
South part of my living room with front door giving out to the staircase to the garden.
The kitchen which has a big fridge, a sink, a one-pit stove and microwave. The oven does not work anymore.
The art studio with door to the living room.
Bedroom with queen-size bed.A chair from the living room next to it, a wind next to the bed with view on the Hamilton canal. I ought to buy a new mattress, but it is still fine for me.
The balcony/terrace on the east side of the apartment with view on the neighbours across and and the Hamilton canal.
The Dutch canal going south.
The Hamilton canal, now overgrown because of the monsoon season. here you can see and hear egrets, herons, kingfishers, waterfowl, teh occasional flying over sea eagle, crows, yellow warblers, mynah birds, peacocks, water monitor, green parrots, but I never had a snake-my landlady downstairs had one coming into the kitchen. There are also the chipmunks and the occasional brown rat that wants to settle with a few litters in the attic.
Opposite the bedroom is the bathroom. There is not need for a boiler for hot water. I shower in cold or heated water (by the sun) and also I don't have or need hot water for the washing machine in here.
View from the balcony on my door to the pantry and to the living room.
Right door neighbour and lane I live in.
Balcony past my front door leading to the terrace from the staircase. My landlady's mango tree in the garden and view on teh St-Anne's lane.
My apartment on the first floor, my landlady's downstairs, part of the garden.
My landlady's young dog Kuku, bowing to me...
The lane towards the St-Anne's Road and beach.
St-Anne's lane leading north of the village also getting you the beach and Muslim neighbourhood.
My study corner in the living room and window to the terrace, with screen doors put in by me. A wardrobe on the left by the front door.
Couch by my study and dining table.
