General Overview

This little gem (affectionately called The Nest) attached to our main home. It is very private with its own parking space, laundry, and separate entrance. We are located a one minute drive or five minute walk from island View Beach. From The Nest, there is a bird’s eye view of the San Juan Islands, James Island, and Mount Baker. Guests have commented on how quiet the space is, and they love the views and the feeling of being up in the trees. But the location is our best feature…a quick walk to the beach! We are a 15 to 20 minute drive into the capital city of Victoria, depending on traffic. A 10 minute drive to Victoria International Airport, and a 20 minute drive to the main ferry terminal over to Vancouver. It’s a very central location for exploring. Five hours away is Tofino and Ucluelet if you’re up for a longer trip.

The Space

The Nest is a studio apartment, about 850 ft.². The kitchen has all appliances except a dishwasher. A cosy electric fireplace and Natuzzi leather furniture finish off the living room. There is a full bathroom, including tub and shower. A large desk and office chair allow for those who want to work while on vacation but we think you’ll find the views too distracting ;)

Guest Access

Unfortunately, the space is not accessible for guests with mobility issues as there are a number of stairs for accessing the entryway, as well as a forest trail from the parking spot to the front door.

Neighbourhood

Central Saanich is a farm community right on the ocean. The pastoral views are beautiful and we have many local markets to buy fresh produce, baked goods, and gifts. It definitely feels like living in the country.

Getting Around

You’ll want to have a vehicle as buses do not run down our road.

Hi! We are a family of four who love to explore! Although our kids are adults now, they often join us on our adventures. :) We also have a tiny dog named Moose, who sometimes travels with us if pups are welcome. We love living on Vancouver Island because of all the natural beauty and recreation opportunities. It’s only five hours to Whistler or Tofino, and a 30 minute drive to the capital city of Victoria.
