Neighbourhood

We are only 5 minutes from the bike trail called the Véloroute des Draveurs. There are lots of hiking trails in the area as well. We border on Kitigan Zibi, an Algonquin community, which hosts an annual Powwow end of May, early June. You can also visit their cultural centre to learn more about Algonquin culture, or go to the trading post museum and boutique. In the village of Messines, try artisanal ice cream, or go 20 minutes to Gracefield to sample the to-die-for chocolate at la Maison Chaloin (4th generation French chocolatier!). We’re close enough to the quaint village of Wakefield with the Nordic spa at Chelsea to make a day trip, as well as go into Gatineau or Ottawa for the day. There is an elk farm in Bouchette (10 min), as well as an apple orchard where you can pick apples in the fall. In March or April, you can enjoy a true French Canadian tradition and go to a sugar shack (only 30 minutes from our place).
