General Overview
We live in a lovely, bright, 1920s character home in an older neighbourhood in central Saskatoon. The house has 4 bedrooms and an office and is especially well-equipped for anyone who loves to cook. We have a beautiful outdoor barrel sauna (heated with electricity) that is particularly lovely on our cold Saskatchewan winter days. During the warmer months the enormous yard is spectacular with fruit trees and shrubs, 8 large raised garden beds, and a greenhouse, all designed using permaculture principles. Our outdoor seating area with a beautiful pergola, UV shade and smokeless fire pit is our little city oasis.
The Space
The house is bright and comfortable with hardwood floors and character throughout. We are avid cooks so the kitchen is particularly well-equipped. Upstairs we have a master bedroom with a king bed, a second bedroom with a single bed, an office with a couch that can be made into a bed for a small child and a full bathroom. On the main floor is a living room, dining room with antique furniture that has been in our family for many generations, and a kitchen. In the finished basement there are two more bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with a single), a livinng area and a full bathroom. The basement was finished eight years ago and is very comfortable. Outdoors we have a large patio, a pergola with sunshade, a large garden (people describe it as a small park oasis). The driveway has room for two cars or a car and an RV or trailer.
Guest Access
The house includes a main floor, second floor and a basement. All areas of the house can be available. We have four hybrid bicycles that can be accessed with a plan ahead of time, a stand-up paddleboard, long boards and lots of camping and fitness equipment. Please let us know if you would like to use any of these.
Notes
Our home is peanut-free because one of our children has a peanut allergy. All other nuts are great! We have an older dog, but friends usually care for her while we are travelling.

Neighbourhood
One block away is a main street with one of the best bakeries in town, Christie's Mayfair Bakery (we think the second best!), the best cheese store (The Cheese List), and a grocery store. There is a public library, access to public transportation, and several other stores, like antique and vintage stores. The best bakery in town in our view, The Night Oven, is a 15-minute walk down the hill. We live one block from one of the nicest local parks in the city.
Getting to my home
We live less than 10 minutes by car from the airport and three minutes by car from downtown.

We are a French-English bilingual family of four, with one child in university and the other a teenage soccer/football player. I am a university professor, and my spouse owns a bookstore. We have a very large home garden where we grow as many fruits and vegetables as we can. We love to travel, especially when we get the chance to learn how ordinary people live in a new place. We are interested in working people's history, in eating good food, and in anything active (running, hiking, biking, and swimming especially). My spouse is an avid disc golfer, and we often travel to places for him to play new courses. Sometimes we travel with our children, but as they get older, more and more we are enjoying the freedom of seeing new places on our own. We love to care for dogs and gardens.
