Our apartment is in one of the coolest and most creative districts in Berlin, but is a blissfully calm sanctuary lovingly curated by two artists
The Space
Located in Friedrichshain, this is a one bedroom apartment in a quiet building overlooking a beautiful shared back yard. The room sizes are generous and it feels much more spacious than its actual size of 60sqm (650 square feet). The apartment consists of: Large living room with balcony and dining area, kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher and another sitting area, spacious bedroom with large built in working desk overlooking the building’s green space, and a bright bathroom with big windows and bath tub.
The apartment is eclectically decorated with vintage furniture and an incredible selection of artwork and plants we have collected over the years. Our home has a colourful and cozy vibe that visitors always remark upon with joy :) The balcony overlooks our lovely, vibrant street with its cute cafes and small independent cinema just steps away.
In short walking distance you will find a number of grocery stores, and access to both trams and the u-bahn (underground) to easily get around the city.
Guest Access
As is pretty common in Berlin, our building doesn’t have an elevator. We are on the third floor. You will have the entire apartment to yourself.

Neighbourhood
Friedrichshain is one of the most popular districts in Berlin, close to Mitte, Kreuzberg and Prenzlauerberg. It’s a vibrant neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, bars, cinemas, East Side Gallery and the famous Berghain. We are in a very safe, calm corner that can easily access the hustle and bustle without having the noise that goes along with it. Our street has the perfect number of cafes and restaurants to service the locals without being on tourists’ radars, making it a hidden gem!
Getting to my home
From BER airport take the train to Ostkreuz or Ostbahnhof, both are a short distance to the apartment with a connecting tram or a 7 minute taxi/uber/bolt
From the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) you can take the M10 tram directly, it stops a five minute walk from our apartment

Getting Around
There are two large grocery stores (edeka and Netto) within a five minute walk, as well as a large health food store (denn’s). A few doors down on the corner you will find a wonderful cafe, a späti (bodega, off licence) and a quintessential Berlin döner spot. Across the street from us is one of the oldest independent cinemas in Berlin. Within a ten minute walk you reach the ubahn, and the tram stops are 5 minutes walk one direction (which takes you directly to the Hauptbahnhof) and 7 in another. With these three connections you can navigate the whole city very well
We are an Australian jeweller and American acrobat who live in Berlin. Our lives are quite nomadic depending on the whims of the circus so we move around a lot!
We are new to house swapping but have experience with other exchange-based platforms, such as HelpX and Trusted Housesitters
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
