General Overview

We live in the beautiful mountain village of Ojen just 15 minutes from Marbella. This is the real Spain where people live ordinary lives, the locals are friendly and welcoming. The house looks small from its narrow street but telescopes into a large home set on 4 floors. The house is quite quirky after we renovated it, putting rooms in spaces that felt right, rather in a conventional way. There is a bedroom off the hallway and the kitchen is on the second floor which leads onto a small atrium where we have a Jacuzzi. Over the Atrium I have a small painting area if there are any artists out there. We have 2 roof terraces, one which leads off the master bedroom and another which spans the top of the house. There is an outside kitchen and stunning views over the rooftops to the sea. We are from Wales and have lived here for over 20 years.

Guest Access

Our house has three internal flights of stairs and another outside which leads to our roof terrace overlooking the sea. We probably wouldnt recommend it for crawling babies and toddlers although we have had guests with young children.

Neighbourhood

Ojen is a small town of 3500 people; we live in a narrow street that leads to the village plaza. Here you will find a selection of small restaurants and tapas bars. The prices in Ojen are probably half the price that one would pay on the coast. We have a small supermarket, bakers and farmacia.

Getting to my home

There are direct buses from the airport to the Marbella bus station. Buses to Ojen are infrequent; there is a taxi rank outside. It is about a 10-minute trip to the village. We would always recommend car hire.

Nearest airport

Malaga 40 minutes by car or direct bus.

Getting Around

We would suggest that in order to explore the area it is best to hire a car, Ojen is in the Sierra de los Nieves Park and the area away from the coast is beautiful.. There are local buses around four times a day to Marbella bus station. Buses from there run across the coast and to Gibraltar, Cordoba and Sevilla.
