Neighbourhood

As well as the beach just up the road there are other beautiful beaches within 5 - 10 minutes drive - from large sandy beaches to beautiful hidden bays and rocky reefs for exploring and diving. And various well known surf breaks. 2 well stocked local shops and a pub that serves good pub food. 1 hour drive to Gisborne, a small coastal city, for a day out. 2 lovely bushwalks. 2 safe boat launching areas and great fishing - crayfish and wet-fish.

Getting to my home

The nearest town is Wairoa, 45 minutes away. A further 2 1/4 hours away is Napier city. You need a car to get there and to get around.

Nearest airport

The nearest airport is in Gisborne, a small city 1 hour further up the coast. Napier / Hawkes Bay Airport is 3 hours away.

Getting Around

The local shop and pub are 10 minutes walk away. You really need a car to explore all the beautiful spots.

We are a semi-retired couple who love where we live, love to share it with others, and love to travel and explore new places. We live in beautiful Ahuriri, a seaside suburb of inner city Napier, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. We love to entertain in our good sized, sunny living room, and in our front and back courtyards. Our 5 grandchildren all love to visit because they love the 2 minute walk to the swimming beach, playground and ice-cream parlor. We are also delighted to make our family beach house in Mahia Beach available for exchanges, plutos or globes. This is our extended family's happy place. With 5 bedrooms, it sleeps 15, so that we can all share it together. We have travelled extensively across the world and we are now keen to continue exploring via home-swaps. At this stage we are mostly interested in Asia, New Zealand, Australia and maybe South America - we are open to ideas and very flexible with dates.
