General Overview
Our home was built in the 1920s. It is semi-detached, with its own gardens on three sides.
It is a comfortable, easy home, that we have enjoyed decorating and developing since we bought it. Our two children (in their 20's) have finished uni and are currently travelling abroad.
The Space
The kitchen/dining/snug area is the heart of our home. We sit with the sun streaming in each morning, especially at the weekends with the papers and coffee.
It's a great place for hosting friends and family for dinner. We are keen cooks, so you will find all the herbs and spices you need for your stay.
Our separate living area (with a dedicated office space), is great for lounging and watching TV. The sun comes in this side of the house later in the afternoon.
Guest Access
Downstairs we also have a laundry room/shower with direct access to the back garden.
There are two doors into the house, one up two steps and another in a side extension to a separate lobby.
It's a great house for children and adults alike, with plenty of space and a relaxed ambience.

Neighbourhood
We have the best of both worlds. 4 minutes walk brings you to a bus-stop into the city (15 to 20 mins).
Turn in the other direction and you can walk in Edinburgh's green belt area, along paths and unpaved roads, passing childrens play area, golf courses, a pub in old stables, and fields where you'll see rabbits and the occasional deer.
Getting to my home
Edinburgh airport is a half hour taxi trip.
Or catch a tram directly from the airport to the city centre, followed by a local bus to our home.
Waverley Station railway station is easy to navigate. Cross the road to get a bus to our neighbourhood.
Or you can walk the three miles from the centre of the city.
Nearest airport
Edinburgh airport is about a half- hour taxi trip away.
Getting Around
Local buses are frequent, safe, reasonably priced and well used. Visitors often comment on how easy Edinburgh (population of about 500,000) is to get around by foot and by bus.

Louise
We are Jim (Scottish) and Louise (Irish), living in our Edinburgh home for 23 years. As we recently retired and love travelling, we thought we'd try home swopping. We're sociable and active.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
The family room is the perfect spot for coffee and the papers
Our 1920's home. There are two entrances, one at the green door and one to the left into our red lobby

The dining, kitchen and family room are all together, we spend most of our time here
This is the lobby, a second entrance to pur home. It's erfect for prams and carrying groceries. You can see the laundry/boot room, which leads to the garden

We have grey squirrels in Edinburgh, who can be quite cheeky. This is our dining area window

We often walk the 'loop', a 40 minute stroll along country lanes near our home. Yet if you turn right from the house, instead of left, the bus stop is 4 minute walk away
