General Overview

Medford, in adventure-filled southern Oregon, is a great homebase for exploring. The wild Rogue River with fantastic kayaking, fishing and camping flows through our valley. Well-made trails abound for hiking and cycling. Crater Lake National Park is nearby as well as Redwoods National Park and the wild Oregon Coast. If you love the outdoors, this is your place! We have a 3 bedroom/2 bath home 10 min from Medford airport (MFR) and just off I-5 in what used to be pear orchards, but it's the geese flying overhead and meadowlarks in the field across the street that wake us in the morning. We offer the use of our car which can be conveniently waiting at the airport for you.

The Space

The house has an open, high-ceiling layout with kitchen, dining and living together with an opening to the large sofa and tv area. It has a fenced backyard, patio with grill, table, chairs, swing and simple outdoor firepit. The front porch has two large padded chairs for watching the sunrise. We offer the use sports/camping equipment you might be interested in (tent, bicycle, tennis, pickleball, ski, snowshoe). The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the living space so offer 2 parties quiet and privacy.

Guest Access

Simple one family home with fenced backyard, key access and electric garage door.

Neighbourhood

Wine country! Within 2 hours you're at Crater Lake National Park, Mt Shasta, The Redwoods National Park, and the wild and scenic Oregon Coast. Within an hour you're on the Pacific Crest Trail connecting all the Cascade peaks, filled with lakes, waterfalls and wilderness areas. Ashland's famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival, only 11 miles to the south, is well known for staging multiple Shakespearean classics and contemporary plays each season from Feb-Nov. It is also where our favorite ski resort, Mt Ashland, is located just a beautiful 45 min drive away to a high bowl with gorgeous views. Britt Festival's outdoor concerts and woodland walks in historic Jacksonville make for perfect summer nights. The golf course is half a block away as well as a large park with tennis, pickleball and volleyball. It's an ideal valley for cycling and has world-class mtn bike trails. Salmon and steelhead fishing on the wild Rogue River, kayaking, swimming in pristine mountain lakes, walking along wild waterfall trails and picking mushrooms and berries are some favorite pastimes.

Laura

Hi, we're Laura and David Walton, avid travelers with a home in Medford, Oregon. We have 6 adult children living on their own and are now enjoying reduced work commitment with lots of free time. Meeting interesting people and exploring their worlds brings us the most joy. We believe diversity and exchange of experiences and ideas provides the greatest benefit to society. We enjoy being out in nature; hiking, camping, cycling, or skiing. We like ethnic foods, reading and watching foreign films. We're always planning our next adventure - maybe a trade with you?
