Within three years, we built our house almost entirely by ourselves – from the base plate to walls, windows and roof to the electrics, of course with occasional support.
What we love most is the warm, inviting feeling in the house: beige, cosy colours, lots of candlelight and a fantastic view of the Weser Mountains - in summer and winter.
We also particularly appreciate sustainability: our passive house with a large PV system has extremely low ancillary costs. It is a place where we recharge our batteries as a family and feel completely at ease.
The Space
Our home offers plenty of space and a bright, open atmosphere.
The large living and dining area with an open kitchen (around 102 m²) is the heart of the house – ideal for cooking, eating or simply spending time together.
In addition to the living area, there is a separate office and a cozy children's room.
From the bedroom, the dressing room leads directly to the master bathroom with bathtub – perfect for relaxing.
The children's room also has its own small bathroom with shower.
A garage is available, as well as a large garden, which is currently still being lovingly finished and already offers plenty of space to play and relax. 🌿
Guest Access
So, now a short paragraph about guest access. There is no guest access, the building is entered through the main entrance and then it is on the first floor.
Notes
Access is convenient via the main entrance, the living quarters are located on the first floor. There is no separate guest access.
Our house is a modern smart home and was built sustainably with great attention to detail.
The room temperature is largely self-regulating – heating is only provided from November to February, otherwise the excellent insulation ensures that the house is kept at a pleasant temperature almost exclusively by body heat.
Active ventilation ensures fresh, pollen- and dust-free air – ideal for allergy sufferers.
Inside, you can expect a warm, cozy atmosphere with high-quality materials, a large dining table for up to ten people (including two high chairs), as well as a home cinema with Dolby Atmos sound system for relaxed movie nights. 🎬✨

Neighbourhood
Our location combines the best of two worlds – nature and easy accessibility.
We live in a small, quiet village with around 700 inhabitants, surrounded by forests and rolling hills (up to approx. 400 m altitude), which can be reached in just 10 minutes on foot - ideal for walks and short hikes.
Despite the natural surroundings, we are perfectly connected in terms of transport: The A2 motorway is directly nearby, and both Hanover and Bielefeld can be reached in about 30 minutes.
The nearest shopping venue is only about 1 km away.
Getting to my home
The journey is uncomplicated:
The nearest airport is Hannover Airport, which is only about 35 minutes away.
By car, we can be easily reached via the A2 motorway, which offers a direct connection in all directions. ✈️🚗

Hello! 😊
We are a family of four from the beautiful Weser Mountains in Germany – my wife, our two children (3 and 6 years old) and I.
We have been self-employed for about 10 years – first in setting up private kindergartens, now in marketing.
Traveling means a lot to us because we want to show our children the world and gather new impressions together. At the end of 2024, we were in Dubai for two and a half months – a great experience!
Since longer trips quickly become expensive, we are happy about HomeExchange as a fair and sustainable way to discover new places and share our home in the Weser Mountains with others. 🌿
"Wir würden gerne für einige Zeit nach Zypern reisen um zu erkunden ob es ein möglichen Ziel ist für einen alternativen Wohnsitz."
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure.
