General Overview

Our home is a lovely bright spacious house laid out over three floors. There are 4 bedrooms and an office with a very comfortable double sofa bed if required. Perfect for families and those who want a bit more space, in a lovely area of South Dublin close to the coast and surrounded by parks and green areas.

The Space

The top floor of the house contains the master bedroom suite with en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. We have another double bedroom with an en suite and two kids bedrooms with single beds (one is a high sleeper with a fun area filled with toys underneath). The kitchen is a lovely large bright open plan room with a sunroom overlooking the back garden. Separate utility room with washing machine and drier. The south facing garden is a real sun trap and a lovely spot to sit in the evening and use the gas BBQ while the kids play with the basketball hoop, rebound net or our collection of football goals and many, many footballs :) There is a large, wooded green area in our estate where all the kids play, if you have kids they will love playing out here, climbing trees and playing football with the local kids.

Guest Access

It is a three storey house, with the master bedroom on the top floor. One small step to the front door.

Notes

We have a very sweet cat, Mimi who will need to be fed. She has a self cleaning litter tray which needs to be changed every 4 days. This involves emptying the bag and cleaning the inside of the tray. She is extremely gentle and good with kids. For reciprocal exchanges we are open to a car swap - we have an electric Volkswagen iD4 and have a charging point at the house (please talk to us about use of this). I have our home noted as unsuitable for under 2s - that is just because my kids are a little older and we no longer have a cot/highchair/stairgates. If that's OK with you your under 2s are more than welcome. Non-smokers only please. We have a Ring doorbell which records externally only.

Neighbourhood

We live in a lovely part of South Dublin, often considered the nicest part of Dublin to live in. We're 5 minutes walk from Cabinteely village which has cafes, restaurants and a great local pub as well as the beautiful Cabinteely Park with a large playground and the historic Cabinteely House. We have three parks within a few minutes walk of our house and an extensive cycle path network which starts just outside our estate - you can cycle for several kilometres in either direction through parkland. We're very close to the coast and beautiful seaside towns such as Dalkey, Monkstown and Glasthule, which are all 10 minutes drive away. Plenty of golden sand beaches such as Sandycove nearby. Very accessible to the city centre either by public transport or driving. Great base for exploring Dublin and Wicklow/ Wicklow mountains/Glendalough 30 mins drive. Lots of opportunities for hiking in the local area, with the Wicklow Way - the oldest and most scenic linear walk in Ireland - just 20 minutes away and Killiney Hill with its stunning panoramic views of Dublin Bay a 10 minute drive. The beautiful village of Enniskerry, which has been used in several movie sets, is 15 minutes away and is home to the magnificent Powerscourt Gardens, voted the no. 3 formal gardens in the world by National Geographic. If you love walking and the outdoors you will be spoilt for choice between access to the coast and mountains all within easy reach of our house.

Getting to my home

Great public transport options - 2 minutes walk to the bus stop which will bring you to Dun Laoghaire (the coast) and 5 mins walk to the bus stop which has a direct service to the city centre every 10 minutes. In a car - 20 minutes drive into the city centre. On the bus - 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Or 8 minutes drive to the nearest DART (train) station and then 20 minutes on the DART.

Nearest airport

Dublin airport is about 30 minutes drive away. There is no direct public transport option and we recommend taking a taxi which costs about €55 for 4 people if pre-booked (I can help with this)

Getting Around

Five minutes walk to Cabinteely village, which has lovely coffee shops, restaurants and a great local pub. The beautiful Cabinteely Park is here, with a large playground and the historic Cabinteely House. We have a local mini supermarket 10 minutes walk away and 3 larger supermarkets within a 15 minute walk.

Nicki

We're an active and adventure loving family of 4. Nicki, an insurance underwriter and Simon, an accountant and our two fantastic kids Sam (2016) and Cara (2019). My mother, May usually joins us on trips so we're usually 5 people. Our sweet cat Mimi stays at home and needs looking after. We'd love to share our spacious, comfortable home in leafy South Dublin with others and will take very good care of yours. We love pets and are very happy to take care of them if you have them. However due to having a cat in our home we cannot accept other pets.
