General Overview

Our family home was lovingly restored in 2017/2018. The house is nestled in a one acre, tree-lined plot with a front garden and field / orchard and pool to the rear. The slate roof, blue shutters and two turrets are typical of a Charentaise property of this stature. We keep a meticulously tidy and clean house and will swap with a similar approach after reciprocal video tours!

The Space

electric gates and off-street parking, manicured front garden and the back garden with outdoor open-barn dining, a pool, trampoline, swings and an orchard. the main house has three floors, two are inhabited. the ground floor has a large kitchen, living (and cimena) room dining room and a WC. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a family bathroom with freestanding tub and a separate shower room with rainshower. the living room is full height to the beams in the right hand turret with a mezzanine balcony and snug in the rafters. the gite in the left hand turret has a further three bedrooms and open kitchen / living room and bathroom.

Guest Access

Day-to-day we occupy both the main house AND the gite space. we welcome guests throughout the year; providing the gite which can be fully separated and is self-contained with private access to the front and rear gardens. This means we are able to sumultaneously swap the gite OR the main house OR both. OR non-simultaneously swap the gite alone, but we would then be in the main house and sharing the exterieur spaces.

Notes

Angoulême’s Festival International de la Bande Dessinée is held every January, the second largest comics festival in Europe. A must for fans of vintage cars, the International Circuit des Remparts turns Angoulême into a giant museum on wheels where old-timers and classic cars make fans dream during three days in September. For movie lovers The Film Francophone d’Angouleme is in August. November sees the city host the three day Les Gastronomades; for food and wine lovers alike. The spectacular Montgolfières is bi-annual, the next being August 2019, held 5 mins away, which sees hundreds of balloons taking to the Charente skyline.

Angie

Small family of three; me, my husband and daughter, and adorable doggies. We live in SW France in our lovingly restored Maison Maitre. We love travelling and swapping with like minded people. We are limited to the french school holidays. Our house has 6 beds but we can also separate the 3 bed gite to a self contained unit and swap that at any time. So we are flexible.
