We are Tamara and Jack, who built our dream solar passive 'small house' in 2024 using new and reclaimed materials.
We designed this house to centre around the kitchen and amazing views, our love of cooking and relaxing amongst the beauty of nature is what we're all about.
We are people who enjoy a simple life and foster strong community bonds through local volunteer projects. We are passionate vegetable and herb growers.
We are sharing our space in 2026 as we are required to relocate to Melbourne for 8 months (Jan-Aug) to finish Tamara's herbal medicine degree.
The Space
It’s a new build with 1 large bedroom and 1 bathroom, and we've added some special touches like an outdoor bath, fire pit and native plantings and vegetable gardens.
We have a great wood fire and oven for Winter, a large modern kitchen. There is a small study nook for working from home. The house is finished with beautiful local jarrah wood bench tops and window frames.
The kitchen and living room look out over a large dam with native bushland all around. We also have a lovely north-facing deck where we sit and watch swans on the dam or cockatoos over head. It’s a special little place to unwind and enjoy the quiet life.
There’s also a big garden that we run as a community growing project every couple of weeks for just a few hours in the morning. You’re welcome to join in, harvest some fresh veggies, and help out with gardening if you’d like.
The house is well insulated, with double glazing, scillion roof and windows to maximise Winter sun and limit in Summer. There are 2 fans for cooling with good ventilation.
Guest Access
The property is on a farm with gated and private access, in a very, very quiet rural area.
Notes
There are 3 dwellings on this farm. Access to this house is a short drive down the driveway, passing neighbours' dwellings.

Neighbourhood
This area is classed as farmland (dairy farmers either side) and 10 minutes from Cowaramup.
Just outside the farm are the most beautiful bush walking trails. You will sometimes see horse riders or kids on bikes exploring, though it's mostly completely human-free.
Cowaramup is a fast-growing town and community with a school, post office, shopping strip and eateries. An independent grocer is currently under construction, opening end of this year.
The town itself is small but bustling with tourism style shopping and residents. A few nice cafes, pubs, walking trails and a short drive to the beach.
Getting to my home
We are a 35-minute drive from Busselton Airport, which offers direct flights to Melbourne and Sydney, or a 3-hour drive to Perth city.
