General Overview
We have a condo on the first floor of a two-unit home located in walking distance to downtown Melrose, MA. This is our primary residence where we live with our three young kids, meaning this home is perfect for anyone who wants to travel without having to lug baby and kid-gear! We have everything you can imagine from crib to high chair to Magnatiles, Legos, coloring supplies, and more! It also means our home isn’t fancy and has some bumps and scratches from the kids. But rest assured it will be a cozy space where you’ll feel right at home!
We are also walking distance to the MBTA Commuter rail (Haverhill line) which will take you to Boston’s North Station in about 10-15 minutes. We are 1mi from the Oak Grove Orange Line stop on the MBTA which will take you to North Station, State Street, Back Bay and more in 20 minutes. There is parking at this station but it is also walkable (a flat 1mi) or there is a bus that runs from by our house directly there.
Downtown Melrose has its own charm. We have a little village center with restaurants, shops, a grocery store, pharmacy, bakery, pet store and more just two streets away from us. There are also a few parks and playgrounds within a 5min walk!
The Space
Kitchen, dining room with seating for 6-8, large living room with oversized sectional couch and two chairs. There are three bedrooms: Queen bed, kids room with twin bunk over toddler bed, and third room with a crib and changing table. We also have a queen sized and twin sized air mattress available to use. There are 1.5 bathrooms. The full sized bath has a tub and the half bath doubles as a laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer available for guest use.
We have a large driveway with parking for 1-2 cars. Ability to use one of our vehicles can be discussed, will depend on if this is a simultaneous exchange and whether we’ll need our cars during that time. Beyond the driveway is a large, flat backyard with outdoor seating and a fire pit. We also have a large above ground pool that may be available for guest use depending on the season.
Guest Access
All rooms are located on the first floor of the home. There are approximately 4-5 stairs to get into the unit. The home can be access from the front door or the side door alongside the driveway.
Notes
Our home is truly one of the more family-friendly you will find! We have loads of toys, board games, supplies and more for our guests to use. As a family who travels internationally to visit our family in Europe, we know how great it can be to travel light without worrying about bringing things along! Just tell us what you need and we probably have it for your family!

Neighbourhood
Our home is in downtown Melrose, Massachusetts which is just 7mi from downtown Boston. We are close to Route 93, 95, and Rt 1, which makes getting in and around the city super convenient - also very close to Logan Airport. We are also transit accessible as noted above with access to both the commuter rail, MBTA Orange Line (transfer to Red Line for Harvard, MIT and Tufts universities or Mass General Hospital).
Downtown Melrose is just two blocks away and has great local restaurants like Turner’s Seafood, Giacomo’s, Rising Eagle Publick House, Santa Fe Tex-Mex, and Wood and Fire Pizzeria. We also have a half dozen or more fast-casual restaurants, a bakery, grocery store, pharmacy and nail salons. We are walking distance to multiple parks and playgrounds, too!
Our home is truly a great base for anyone looking to visit Boston, Cambridge, or north shore Massachusetts (Rockport, Gloucester, Marblehead, Salem MA, etc.) or southern NH (Portsmouth, Hampton, Rye, Seabrook, Salem NH, etc.). We are also convenient to Rt 95 for anyone looking to go to Burlington, Waltham, or other areas west of the city.
Getting to my home
We are easily accessible to Logan Airport (20min depending on traffic), or can be reached by train/bus using the MBTA. Those who are driving can park right in our driveway during their stay.

My husband and I are long-time rental owners and even own a small hotel in southern Maine. We now have three young kids so staying in a home is our preferred way to travel. We used to rent our home on Airbnb but we’re now interested in home exchanges only. We are Boston-based and open to destinations!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
