General Overview
If you love nature or homeschool-look no further!!
We live in the perfect blend of peaceful country living and small-town charm—just ten minutes from the heart of Cookeville, Tennessee.
Known as the home of over 150 waterfalls, this area is a dream for nature lovers who enjoy hiking, floating down scenic rivers, boating on lakes or splashing in clear mountain creeks.
Our home is a kid-friendly homestead complete with a saltwater pool, chickens, fruit trees, and a garden.
Even if you don't have kids, It's a haven for anyone looking to slow down, soak in nature, and still enjoy the comforts of town nearby.
The Space
Our home offers spacious living for families or groups. There are two floors—upstairs includes cozy bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a comfortable living area with views of the surrounding countryside. Downstairs has office space, a washer and dryer, and leads to a carport with bikes for your use. We also have a separate play room/homeschool room for the kids.
Outside is where the fun begins: a large patio with a wood-burning fireplace, lounge seating, a saltwater in-ground pool, a zipline, trampoline, and a playscape for the kids. The garden and small orchard provide fresh produce when in season, and you'll enjoy the peaceful presence of our backyard chickens.
Guest Access
Guests will have access to both levels of the home. The basement includes office space, laundry facilities, and a walkout to the carport where bikes are available for local exploring. Also the kids have their own separate playroom room where we have lots of toys, games and craft area. The outdoor amenities—pool, fireplace patio, trampoline, zipline, and garden—are all yours to enjoy.
Notes
We are a family-friendly home with plenty to keep both kids and adults entertained. You may occasionally hear a rooster in the morning or spot deer at dusk. We kindly ask that guests treat our animals and garden with respect. We’ll leave instructions for caring for the chickens if you're open to collecting eggs. Otherwise, we can arrange for a neighbor to stop by.
I love our central location. We are 1 hour from Nashville, 1 1/2 hours from Knoxville and 2 hours from Chattanooga.
We are a homeschool family that travels often. We run a non profit homeschool Co-op nature school here.

Hi there! We are a homeschooling and traveling family of four. We currently live in beautiful Tennessee, surrounded by hiking, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and so much nature! We run a homeschool Co-op nature school here locally but travel as much as we can outside of that.
We have had someone stay at our home and watch our pets but have never house swapped and would love the opportunity to do so.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
Our large salt water pool with fire bowls and waterfall. The waterfall is made for jumping so kids love it. You will have access to all water toys/rafts and we have life vests of all sizes. Our pool is open end if April through end of September.
We are on 3 acres. Backyard has trampoline and play area for kids. The very back left is our fenced in chicken area.
Blackstone and basic grill. You can use the outdoor kitchen!
Very large outdoor patio. Sitting swing, two picnic tables (not pictured), wrap around patio furniture, outdoor cooler for your beverages and also fireplace.
Master bathroom
Master shower with two shower heads
Master bedroom with king size bed and all organic bedding
Small living area with smart TV, recliner chair and recliner couches.
Another view of kids trampoline, zipline (attached to tree), mud kitchen and slide/swingset
Outdoor fireplace and seating area in the patio
This is a view from the back of the pool looking over our garden.
This is my office that's located in the walkout basement. The car port with bicycles is attached to this and the laundry is down in the basement as well.
Tree swing and climbing tree for kids. Next to the garden.
Dogwood Park about 7 mins from our house. Large play area for kids, splash fountain, bike and walking paths, amphitheater. Right downtown Cookeville
Kayaking to the bottom of Burgess Falls. You can also hike to the top. Burgess Falls is about 18 mins from my house.
A picture of part of downtown Cookeville. Lots of ice cream shops, farmers markets, shopping and restaurants.
Cane Creek Park – Just minutes from my home!
Enjoy peaceful lake views (56 acre lake) , paved walking trails through native trees, kayaking, fishing, and family-friendly playgrounds—all tucked into 262 acres of Cookeville beauty.
A swimming hole with beautiful gorges in the back drop. One of many in Fall Creek Falls State Park. About 34 miles from our home.
The infamous Fall Creek Falls. One of our favorite hikes and state parks.
A winter hike we did called Northrup Falls.
An awesome local swimming hole with rope swing right on Roaring river. About 25 mins away.
Dale Hollow Lake is about an hour away. Camping, state parks, rent a pontoon and go tubing, public beaches, etc
This would be a day trip from our house. It's about two hours away but it's called "tanking" and it was one of our favorite things we did this summer. You get float down the Red River (north of Nashville) in a big tank!
Waterloo is a private owned nature area with two waterfalls and swimming holes. It's absolutely beautiful, you can bring your own rafts or rent some. Another incredible spot just 20 mins away from our house!
This is twin falls at Rock Island State Park. Rock Island is a little bit further maybe about 45 minutes away from our house but it's one of my favorite state parks in the area. There is camping, hiking, awesome Beach area with beautiful gorges.
Cummins Falls is very popular. We hike here often. You get to Wade through the water on a really great hike and end up at Cummins Falls . You can swim and play on the different levels of the waterfalls. The state park itself also has hiking and it's very beautiful.
