General Overview
Newly-built 2-storey home, 2 km from the charming village of Montezuma, known for its beautiful beaches and 3-level waterfall. Our home consists of a 2 BDR main house and an adjacent 2 BDR guesthouse.
We are on a hill overlooking the jungle with a gorgeous 160 degree ocean view. We are at the end of a quiet private road with two neighbours behind us. The house is peaceful with the stunning sunrise over the ocean and monkeys coming to visit in the nearby branches.
The Space
The houses have been designed to enjoy tropical living with comfortable outdoor living spaces, refreshing breezes and stunning views. The property is served by filtered well water (private well, tested annually), solar hot water tank, Starlink internet service, and an exterior security camera monitoring the entrance to the property.
The main house has one bedroom on the ground floor with a queen bed, AC, and a small work space. It has its own private shower room, next to the main floor powder room. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom with a large ocean-view shower. With the breeze coming through the wrap-around windows, and the high ceilings in this bedroom, there is no AC.
The dedicated office upstairs is a quiet place to work with views of the ocean and the jungle. The balcony wraps around the house, with a large terrace that can be used as a yoga deck.
The fully-equipped kitchen in the main house has a gas stove and electric oven, stainless steel countertops, and a view of the ocean while you're cooking. The laundry room includes both a washer and a dryer.
The guesthouse has two more bedrooms, both with queen beds, ensuite bathrooms, and AC. The ground floor bedroom has a 54-inch smart TV, and blackout blinds for those who don't want to wake with the sun. The additional kitchenette with full size fridge and the balcony lounge area give larger groups some independence.
Guest Access
Both the main house and the guesthouse are 2-storey, with stairs.

Pets (dogs or cats) are welcome, though max 2, and dogs are not allowed on the furniture or beds please.

Neighbourhood
The town of Montezuma is a quiet, bohemian tourist village with restaurants, shops, live music, lots of yoga, sport fishing, turtle nesting, dolphin and whale watching, scuba diving, the artisan market, the farmers market, and a wonderful community. Multiple beaches give you options of waves for surfing, and calmer waters for swimming. The beautiful Montezuma waterfalls and nearby rivers are a favourite for hiking and swimming. We are about 30 minutes from the larger, bustling village of Santa Teresa, a popular surf destination with endless options for restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.
Getting to my home
Montezuma is at the bottom of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, on the inside of the Gulf of Nicoya. Flying into San Jose or Liberia international airports are equally good. If you drive from San Jose, you will take a ferry across the beautiful Gulf of Nicoya. It's a 5-hour journey if you time it right with the ferry. From Liberia, it's about a 4-hour, easy drive. The shuttle planes from San Jose or Liberia will get you here in 25 minutes.
Nearest airport
The Cobano airport is 10 minutes away, and is served by regional Sansa and Costa Rica Green airlines. Flying into Liberia or San Jose are both options for getting the 12-seater shuttle plane to the Cobano airport.
Getting Around
We recommend a 4x4 vehicle or quad rentral for our private dirt road. Walking or biking to Montezuma is great exercise: although it's just 2 km away, it's all hill, and it's steep! A public bus serves the community to get to Cobano for the larger grocery stores, hardware stores, clinics, pharmacies, and bank.
