Our home is located in the hip, happening city of Somerville, Massachusetts. We love the fabulous bike trail that is two blocks from our home and travels into Boston, or all the way to Concord, Mass., in the other direction. There are two nice porches to relax on. The street is quiet, and the house is a short walk from the Green Line trolley station, which travels into Boston or out to Tufts University.
The Space
We have a lush back and front yard, many birds, and our street is quiet. Our home will sleep 2 or 3 guests comfortably. If you stay here while we're here, you'll stay in the plant room, which has a comfortable couch that opens to a double bed, and you'll have access to your own bathroom. Our home is comfortable and cute, and we have every convenience. The kitchen has two air fryers (we love them for cooking) and a normal stove. The 2nd floor has a TV room with an exercise bike and comfy seating. There is a dining room and a back porch. The hallway shown leads to the front porch. (More photos to come soon.)
We are walking distance to the metro (Green Line T station), or 20 minutes to Davis Square and the Red Line.
Guest Access
Our apartment is on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and it's important to note that there are stairs to navigate. There is no wheelchair access. The laundry is in the basement, shared with the tenant apartment on the 1st floor, and there are back hallway stairs to navigate down to the basement or to the backyard. There's a driveway and/or a 3-day parking pass for guests. If you bring bikes, they will need to be stored in the basement, with access down and up five stairs.
Notes
Our house is in the city of Somerville, Massachusetts. Although we have a lovely, small back and front yard, on a relatively quiet, one-way street, this is a vibrant and busy city. Summers and holidays are generally quiet because many of the college students leave town. There is easy access to Boston (by bike, train, or car) and ferries to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and a 1.5 - 2 hour drive to Cape Cod. Alternatively, there are lovely drives up to the north shore of Mass to Gloucester, Rockport, Newburyport, etc, and New Hampshire and Maine.

Neighbourhood
The bike path is 2-3 blocks away from the house. It's a fabulous bike path that goes into Boston or west to historic Concord, Massachusetts.
The metro (T) to Boston or Tufts University is three blocks from the house. Magoun Square is a few blocks from the house; Davis Square is a 20-minute walk along the bike path; Union Square is a 25-minute walk, or so, from the house. The farmer's market is a few blocks away at the Armory (during winter). There are great restaurants within walking distance, such as Sarma or Highland Kitchen.
The neighbors are friendly, with lots of dog walkers. It's a safe neighborhood, but it's wise to always lock the house doors and your car.
Getting to my home
The airport is a 15-20 minute car ride from our house. One can take a ride share, a taxi, or a train to our house. The train takes longer, as you have to change trains, but it's certainly a viable option.
Nearest airport
Boston Logan International Airport
Getting Around
There's a very small grocery store within walking distance from the house called Neighborhood Produce. The large grocery store, Market Basket, is down the hill, so it helps to have a car or walk there and take a taxi/ride share back to the house. There are other grocery stores as well, but it helps to have a car or use a ride share/taxi. The bike path and the city squares offer Blue Bike rentals, for which you can become a member for a relatively low fee.

My husband, Stefan, and I are a mature couple looking for exchanges or happy to host you at our home. We live in a two-family home on the 2nd and 3rd floors in Somerville, Massachusetts. There are stairs as soon as you enter, and stairs up to the third floor. We have two porches on the 2nd floor, a lush backyard with lots of bunnies, birds, and the occasional groundhog. The front yard is also full of plants and shrubs. Our home is in the city, on a quiet one-way street. There is access to public transportation within walking distance, and the fabulous Minuteman Bike Path is a couple of blocks away. Our apartment is warm and comfortable, full of art, color, and a room of plants.
We have two cats, who would need kitty care if you stay here without us. If you stay with us as our guests, you'll want to know that the cats have free range of the house. If you're allergic, this wouldn't be the place for you, but if you love cats, you'll love ours, and we'd be delighted to care for your cat(s) if we stay at your home!
I'm a full-time visual artist, and Stefan is a published writer. We're partially retired, although when I have a commission or public art project, I work continually in my studio nearby. We enjoy gardening, riding our bikes, hiking, swimming, and being in nature. We live simple lives, and we're quiet, friendly, respectful, and we enjoy meeting new people, although my other half is an introvert! ;-) We love staying in homes on or near the water (ocean, lakes, ponds, etc), and we'll make excellent guests and care for your home, plants, etc.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
2nd floor hallway to front porch. The door on the left is a closet. The doorway in the foreground, on the right, leads to the TV room. The stairway leads the the 3rd floor where there is a bedroom, an office room, and a full bathroom.
This is the plant room. The couch on the right opens up to a comfortable double bed.

Kitchen (with kitty cats). The doorway to the basement is on the left, and the dining room is down two stairs, also on the left within this photo.
This is the bathroom on the 2nd floor, which includes a tub and a shower. This bathroom is opposite the plant room. The kitty litter is kept in this bathroom, and the door must be left open at all times when not in use, for the cats to have access.
