General Overview
Vernon is a well loved mid-sized city in BC’s interior in a four season playground with three lakes nearby and mountains to enjoy.
Located in Creekside, in the heart of downtown Vernon, this cottage is ideally located for those wishing to immerse themselves in a region with many recreational and cultural features to enjoy. The lakes offer swimming and boating. The mountains offer hiking and skiing and berry picking if you are lucky!
The Space
The cottage is level entry, barrier free and many accessible features including bathroom, ramps.
Surrounded by a hedge, the yard containing a large apricot tree as well as cherry and plum trees and grape vines, is private and restful. The private deck off the dining room is nestled under the apricot tree.
Guest Access
Guests enjoy a main floor guest room with a queen sized bed and an adjoining bathroom containing a shower and washer/dryer. Three main floor sitting areas include the living room, sunroom and kitchen. Lots of options to rest and relax! The well designed comfortable kitchen is available for culinary feasts! A large bbq is available. Wifi/High speed internet is available.
Notes
Silver Star Mountain Resort and Sovereign Lake Nordic Center are about a half hour drive away in the Shuswap Highland of the Monashee Mountains. For summer recreation, the area is known for its golf courses, walking/biking trails including the rail trail and canal trail systems as well as boating. I have a ladies kayak and bike and kayaks/SUPs/bikes are easily available to rent.
I am an advocate for reducing physical barriers for those with mobility challenges and I know first hand how challenging yet necessary travel can be. My home has been adapted for wheelchair access and I am keen to assist with locating rental equipment for those requiring a variable height bed or portable lift.

Neighbourhood
The main business street with food stores, restaurants, banks and shopping is a short three blocks away. The public recreation center is two blocks away including an indoor pool, hotub as well as an indoor/outdoor skating and curling rink and kids park. A wonderful performance arts center is also close.
Getting to my home
Vernon is easily accessible by plane and car. It’s a nice day drive from Calgary or Vancouver between the Rockies and Pacific west coast. The bus that travels several times to Vancouver daily stops three blocks away.
Nearest airport
The Kelowna International Airport is just over a half hour drive away (36 km). In under an hour you can fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Seattle.
Getting Around
Shops and transport are within walking/biking distance. While a local bus is nearby, its service is limited. The regional bus does service the airport during business hours. A car is recommended.

I am an avid traveller, gardener, antique collector and weaver. I enjoy the natural world and am an active community volunteer.
My homes reflects my interests and creativity. This year I’m enjoying more hiking and kayaking outdoors. I am fortunate to have two homes. The Vernon home is in the Okanagan region known for its lakes, fruit and wine as well as outdoor recreation. Silver Star Ski Resort has world class downhill and nordic skiing in the winter and mountain biking and hiking in the summer. My vacation home is near a historical village in the Kootenay region and is on a large lake nestled between two mountain ranges.
