Escape to the Arizona mountains and enjoy our private log home tucked away on 4.5 beautiful acres of towering ponderosa pines, dramatic natural boulders, and bordering the Tonto National Forest. Our home feels like a secluded mountain retreat, yet we’re only minutes from the town of Payson, with restaurants, shopping, groceries, and everything you need nearby.

Surrounded by forest and Arizona’s beautiful Rim Country, this is a wonderful place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the outdoors. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ATV adventures, wildlife watching, fishing, mountain lakes, and miles of forest exploration are all nearby.

One of the things we love most about our home is the combination of privacy and convenience. Spend your days exploring Arizona and the Mogollon Rim, then return home to relax among the pines, soak in the hot tub, enjoy a fire beneath the stars, or simply appreciate the peace and quiet of mountain living.

Payson also makes a great home base for exploring more of Arizona, including Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, and other destinations throughout the state.

We love to travel and are excited about exchanging homes with people from across the United States and around the world. We look forward to sharing our little piece of Arizona mountain life and experiencing yours!

The Space

Our custom log home offers approximately 2,760 sq ft of comfortable living space with plenty of room for couples, families, or friends traveling together. The warm mountain interior features vaulted ceilings with log accents, large picture windows, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and a beautiful river-rock fireplace with a high-efficiency wood stove—perfect for chilly mountain evenings.

The open kitchen, dining, and living areas create a comfortable gathering space for cooking, entertaining, and spending time together. The kitchen has recently been updated with new appliances and is fully equipped for everything from a quick breakfast before heading out for the day to preparing a relaxing dinner at home.

The primary retreat features a king-size bed, walk-in closet, and private remodeled 3/4 bath. Two additional bedrooms each have queen-size beds, and the spacious open loft is set up as an additional sleeping area with another king-size bed.

Downstairs is a dedicated game and recreation room, giving everyone another place to spread out, play games, watch TV, or relax after a day of exploring the mountains.

Outdoor living is a big part of our home. An expansive 1,621 sq ft deck wraps you in the surrounding ponderosa pines and provides plenty of space for morning coffee, outdoor meals, entertaining, or simply enjoying the mountain air.

One of our favorite features is the huge hot tub on the front deck beside the outdoor stone fireplace. Soaking in the hot tub beneath the pines, enjoying a fire on a cool evening, and looking up at the stars has quickly become one of our favorite ways to end the day. We also have additional covered outdoor living space that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

The property has multiple driveways and plenty of level parking, with ample room for several vehicles, motorcycles, an RV, trailer, or other outdoor toys.

With 4 acres to enjoy and the Tonto National Forest directly bordering the property, there is plenty of room to spread out while still feeling comfortable and at home. It’s our own private mountain retreat, and we hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

Neighbourhood

When many people picture Arizona, they imagine cactus, desert, and endless sunshine. But just a couple of hours from the Phoenix area, the landscape changes dramatically. Welcome to Payson and Arizona’s spectacular Rim Country—a mountain getaway filled with towering ponderosa pines, cool mountain air, lakes, streams, wildlife, and seemingly endless opportunities to explore the outdoors.

Payson sits at approximately 5,000 feet in elevation in the heart of Arizona, surrounded by the Tonto National Forest and nestled just below the magnificent Mogollon Rim. The Rim rises dramatically above the surrounding countryside and stretches for hundreds of miles across northern Arizona, offering spectacular overlooks, forest roads, hiking trails, mountain lakes, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the state.

Our area enjoys four distinct seasons. Summers are generally much cooler than Arizona’s desert communities, fall brings changing leaves and crisp mountain evenings, winter can bring beautiful snowfall, and spring fills the forest with comfortable temperatures and new life.

If you enjoy the outdoors, it would be difficult to run out of things to do here. The forests surrounding Payson offer miles of hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and ATV/UTV trails.

Numerous mountain lakes and streams are scattered throughout Rim Country, providing opportunities for fishing, kayaking, boating, picnicking, and simply finding a quiet place beside the water. Woods Canyon Lake, Willow Springs Lake, Bear Canyon Lake, and Knoll Lake are among the area's popular destinations.

Wildlife is also part of life in Rim Country. Depending on where your adventures take you, you may encounter elk, deer, wild turkey, javelina, bald eagles, and many other animals

Getting to my home

Payson is an easy and scenic drive from the Phoenix metropolitan area. Simply head north on the Beeline Highway (State Route 87), which climbs from the Sonoran Desert into Arizona’s beautiful mountain country and towering ponderosa pines. Payson is located at the junction of Highways 87 and 260, making our home a convenient base for exploring the Mogollon Rim and Arizona’s high country.

Nearest airport

Phoenix International Airport and Mesa Gateway are both less than 1.5 hours away.

Getting Around

We are on the outskirts of town...within a mile or two of Dining and Shopping.

We have had a Vacation Rental located in Pine Az that we loved to use and share with other travelers. We are selling it this fall and going to add our primary residence in Payson AZ on 4.5 acres, which is even more beautiful soon. We prefer to exchange with homes near a beach or National parks.

**Please ask about availability - there is far more availability than shown on the calendar (just don't get round to updating).  The home is a vacation rental on Airbnb and VRBO (Dancing Bear Lodge, Pine, AZ), so a quick peek at those calendars will show most of our availability**  We also ask that Globe and non-reciprocal exchange travelers pay a $200 cleaning fee, that goes directly to the cleaner at the end of your stay.
