Neighbourhood
This is a very typical "local" neighborhood, not a rich or fancy area. The people who live in this neighborhood are largely native Hawaiians.
The street in front of the house is busy because the hospital is up the hill.
It's a safe area though, and people look out for each other.
Nearest airport
Hilo airport. About a 10 minute drive.
Getting Around
You can easily walk downtown and around, but my house is on a hill, so you need to be comfortable walking up a hill home, or catch an Uber/Cab. Downtown is a about a 20 minute walk (with the shops, restaurants, bars, music, etc).
The best spots in Hilo to swim/snorkel are about a 15 minute drive.
You can easily drive anywhere on the island from my house.

People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
