Neighbourhood
Our home is within walking distance of Haruatai Park, the heated swimming pool, the Otaki Domain and sports grounds, the supermarkets and the weekly local Sunday market. Not far away are the cycle paths, the beach and the river - numerous options for walking, running or cycling.
We live in Otaki – a small coastal town on the Kapiti Coast with a population of about 5000.
Otaki is a small town with a big reputation for sunshine, strong community spirit and easy access to the beach, the bush, the rivers and the mountains. It attracts thousands of visitors to the annual Kite Festival, the Maoriland Indigenous Film Festival and the Kapiti Arts Trail.
Our home is an easy drive away to the many attractions on the Kapiti Coast including:
• Paekakariki Escarpment walkway
• Otaki Gorge
• Otaki Beach
• Whareroa Farm
• Mangaone Walkway
• Kapiti Island- a bird sanctuary and nature reserve accessible only by boat
• Southward Car Museum
• Nga Manu nature reserve
• And numerous safe offroad walking and cycling trails.
Nearest airport
Kapiti Coast has a small airport with daily flights from Auckland via Air Chathams. The International Airport in Wellington is an hour's drive away.
Getting Around
Ideally, a rental car would be best for getting around and exploring all of the attractions this region has to offer.
