General Overview

The studio is located on our property in beautiful Cygnet, walking distance to the main street and adjacent to a wetland & park. From there you have easy access to all that Cygnet has to offer - cafes, shops, restaurants, market, community. The studio is cozy and overlooks our bountiful garden and rolling hills. We live in the house at the back.

The Space

The studio is a little nest amongst our garden. From the covered deck, you can take in the beautiful views of surrounding gum trees and hills. The space includes a queen size bed, a bathroom and a kitchenette. The studio's kitchenette includes a two-burner electric cooktop, a toaster, kettle and basic utensils. We are located located at the Southern end of town on the edge of the Cygnet waterfront opposite Burtons Reserve, a beautiful bird sanctuary & wetlands as well as a popular recreational area, and within easy walking distance of cafes, bakeries, IGA and shops.

Guest Access

We also have available to you a semi-outdoor kitchen adjacent to the studio fitted out with a 4-burner electric stove and oven, a sink and additional kitchen utensils. You're also welcome to use the fire pit down the studio deck. Access to the studio is via the little gate on Esplanade road at the back of our block. Free parking is available by the back gate on Esplanade road. We mainly use the front entrance on the highway to access our house so the back access will be mainly yours!

Notes

Our block is a working garden as we continue to establish fruit trees, build terraces, garden beds and landscaping. You are likely to see us potting around the garden at some point during your stay. We are neighbours to the packing shed of one of the oldest family run cherry growers in Cygnet and they have their refrigeration on between January and March emitting a humming sound that can be heard in the background. The bed is slightly elevated above waist height to allow for storage underneath and a step is provided to get up.

Neighbourhood

We are part of a lovely community - people are open, warm and happy! We are close to Incredible beaches - including Randalls bay and Drip beach. The Huon Valley is full of delicious fresh produce grown locally - through farm gates and shops, the town is all about great food! Cygnet is a great base to explore the Huon Valley - lots of other beautiful towns, coast, hikes to explore. And we are 50 min South of the 'big town' of Hobart.

Getting to my home

From Hobart airport, drive down to the Huon Valley (1h). You can also get here via public transport (bus stop at our door step).

Nearest airport

Hobart International Airport (73km)

Getting Around

You can walk to the shops of the main street of Cygnet. You can connect via public transport relatively easily to the main towns around including Huonville, Kingtston and Hobart. Having a car is best to explore the valley.

Emmanuelle & family

We are John, Emmanuelle and toddler Olive. We moved to Tasmania from Melbourne in 2020 and love our life in this little pocket of the world surrounded by our garden and community! We love gardening, going to the beach and swimming, walking, cooking and gathering around a table with friends and family.
