Our home is 300m from a good surfing beach - Sharpes Beach and Flat Rock. Skennars Head is situated between the town of Ballina with its shops and Lennox Head with its pub and fresh water lake - both only an 8-10 minute drive. The house is only 20 minutes drive to Byron Bay - a popular tourist destination which is the most easterly point of the Australian coastline.
Sharpes Beach is within a national surfing reserve with world class surf breaks nearby at Lennox Point and Boulder Beach.
The Space
We have two public rooms - an open dining kitchen and one public room, whilst another is upstairs and we call it the Cloud room which is setup to kick back and watch tv. The upstairs balcony has a view to the ocean.
Guest Access
This is a 2 storey house with 4 double bedrooms and two with ensuite.
The lower level is accessible with a drive-in double garage.
Notes
We have a big play park nearby with kids play equipment and BBQs. Our beach is patrolled by lifesavers in every school holidays.
Snowy, our 15yo cat is also resident here - he lives outside, is shy and quiet, but does need to be fed morning and night. We will ask you to put food out for him, but if you have allergies one of our neighbours is always happy to help.

Michelle and James’ house was absolutely divine! From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were stepping into a five-star luxury hotel—but with all the warmth and comfort of a family home.
The house had everything you could possibly need. It was spacious, with large, comfortable bedrooms and plenty of cozy spots to sit back, relax, and enjoy the gentle ocean breezes.
The spa was truly the highlight of our stay! Even though it rained solidly for three days, the boys spent hours in there, completely entertained and happy.
Michelle’s home is perfectly positioned—just a short drive to Lennox Head or the world-famous Byron Bay. It’s also conveniently close to Ballina, only a few minutes away.
Traveling with children? Just meters from the house, there’s a well-equipped playground and a large grassy area where kids can burn off energy safely and happily.
Not sure Michelle and James can improve the house anymore... it was perfect in every way!
Michelle and James were the last in a series of back-to-back guests, and we couldn’t have asked for better visitors. They were thoughtful, conscientious, and kept us updated, letting us know when they arrived and that everything was going smoothly.
They left our home so clean and tidy that we’d never have guessed we’d had multiple guests and been away for so long! Our home was spotless upon our return and it was lovely to come back to after being away.
They made the most of their stay, packing in the Oasis concert, the Fringe Festival, and the Military Tattoo – so pleased they got to enjoy it all.
We would gladly recommend Michelle and James and would be happy to host them again. We hope to meet you in Australia one day!
Michelle and her family took great care of our home. Thank you again for letting us stay in yours.
Definitely recommend a stay at Hannah’s house if you travelling to Edinburgh. We provided a globe for a 3 night stay to see Oasis, the Edinburgh Tattoo and the Fringe Festival.
It’s a quiet, high-end new home on a main road into town. You can get the 43 bus easily and express buses only take 10 mins into Princes Street.
Hannah was an amazing host and had thought of everything to provide for travellers.
We hope to host Hannah and family in Australia sometime.
The Kingy Cottage was a great place to experience Kingscliff - the place had everything we needed to soak up the Northern NSW vibe. We surfed everyday from Cabarita to Kirra and we danced the Saturday night away at the Kingscliff Hotel - wow, that place was fun!!! The creek and the open ocean have so much to offer in terms of walks or bike rides.
The house is beautifully renovated and comfortable with all mod cons, thanks to Stef and Ellen.
We also enjoyed the best dinner at the local Greek-inspired Unicorn Seafood Restaurant - divine!
Highly recommended our hosts 🥰
Stef, Ellen and their boys took care of our home as if it was their own, and Snowy the cat was very spoilt by their attention too.
