General Overview
For Summer 2025, we are looking for an exchange in a major European capital city or major tourist hub (Florence, Paris, Munich, Rome, Brussels, etc., but we'd also love the Amalfi Coast or places like that). We will be bringing along an almost 18 year old and almost 21 year old and both of them would like a busy city with lots of things to do.
Our home (which is our primary residence) in Sarasota, Florida is a welcoming, larger home with a pool and jacuzzi, just 15 minutes from Siesta Key Beach, one of the top beach destinations in the United States. We are located about 22 minutes from the city center of Sarasota, Florida, where restaurants and a bustling nightlife abound. We are 1-3 minutes from basics like a grocery store, gas stations, pharmacies, and banks. We are about 15 minutes from the shopping mall in Sarasota. We have all the amenities expected of an American home.
We have 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. One king size bed, 4 queen size beds, 1 queen sized futon, and the sectional couch can be used for sleeping as well. Our house can accommodate at least 11 guests but in this case, you may need to stagger showers.
Our outdoor area is our favorite spot! Our heated pool also has a jacuzzi if you prefer warmer water. The pool cage does a wonderful job keeping the bugs away.
We have three TVs (including one outside) and you can watch Netflix among other streaming services. We have some games and cards you may use as well. We have WiFi. And of course we have air conditioning! That is a must in Florida. The A/C is dual zoned so you can select different temperatures for the ground floor and upper floor.
Because of the swimming pool and liability for young children, we ask that you only bring pre-teens and older to the home. We do not want accidents with young children and the pool. If you have young children and a pool at your own home, we are potentially open to that idea if they are strong swimmers and well versed in pool safety.
We are a no pets household due to allergies, so we apologize, but we cannot accept pets. Particularly if you have cats, we can't stay in your home! We have three family members who are very allergic to cats.
The Space
The home has all the creature comforts you would expect and is very comfortable. The floors are tile downstairs and vinyl flooring upstairs. Spills are easy to clean and we just ask that you are careful with food/beverages around the few rugs we have in the home. We only eat at designated eating areas for that reason.
The main floor master bedroom is ensuite. There is another bath with bathtub/shower on the main floor. Upstairs, there is one ensuite bedroom and the other three bedrooms can share the hall bath or use the downstairs bath.
There is a 2-car garage with extra refrigerator space in the garage. We have beach gear that you may use for the beach - chairs, blankets, towels, etc.
Guest Access
The home is two story. The master bedroom is on the main floor and the other four bedrooms are upstairs. There are two bathrooms downstairs and two bathrooms upstairs.
We have keyless entry to make it very simple! You'll never accidentally lose a key! We have remote access from anywhere in the world in case something is wrong with the code, and we have helpful neighbors as well.
Notes
We will ask that you pay the house cleaning fee. Our cleaner charges $175 per visit. It's a larger home and house cleaning services aren't cheap in Sarasota due to it being a busy vacationer's paradise! Lots of Airbnbs and VRBOs and so housecleaning is good business!

Neighbourhood
We have great neighbors! We have neighbors from Germany, Ireland, China, Latin America, South Africa, and more. Nearby (two minutes away by car) you will find groceries, gas, pharmacies, banks, and anything else you may need.
Getting to my home
You would need a car to get to the home. We may consider the use of the convertible Mini Cooper (manual transmission) if we can use your car as well.
Nearest airport
You have many choices for airport. The two closest are Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ), which is very small, and then next is Tampa (TPA), which is a large airport about an hour away. You could also look further away at Orlando (about 2.5 hours away) and Miami or Ft. Lauderdale (about 3 hours away).
Getting Around
You will need a car to get around. There are rental car agencies just a short distance from the home and of course at the airports that you travel into.

We are an American and German couple living in Sarasota, Florida who love to travel to Europe. We often bring young adult children with us. Between us, we have five children, ages 26 down to twins who are 17. We are in our early 50s. We are in telecom and finance, and we are digital nomads, so once the twins graduate high school, we would like to home swap throughout the year as we can work from anywhere. We hope to retire in Southern Europe by the time we are 60, and then home swap from there!
