I love our outdoor spaces- always options for sun and shade since our home is East-West facing. Our back deck has comfy furniture and a grill, and our front porch has comfy furniture and a patio swing.
Our indoor spaces are lovely too (I am just a total outdoor person)! Our kitchen is huge and I love our open floor plan with loads of natural light pouring in. When I am cooking, I can watch the kids if they're in the backyard or just on the main level playing.
There is SO MUCH space in this house to spread out when we need our own space, but also cozy spots to snuggle up as a family and play a game or do a puzzle by the fireplace.
What I love as much as our home is the location- it is truly a unique location because it is uncommon for suburban homes to be so walkable/ bike-able. I love living in a relatively quiet neighborhood but SO close to conveniences and fun! It is WALKING distance and BIKING distance to SO MANY awesome places. Every summer, I always tell my husband that I feel like we are on vacation in our own home because of our proximity to everything (and because of our outdoor furniture- feels like resort living to me)! We love walking to Main Street for date nights!
I also love how many amazing things there are to do in Minneapolis and surrounding areas. It's fun to chill at home, but if we wanted to, we could fill our calendar with epic events and festivals every day of the week. We are intentionally NOT busy people and we try very hard to reduce stuff on the calendar, but it's hard when there's always so much fun stuff going on.

Neighbourhood
Come stay in our beautiful home in a very WALKABLE neighborhood in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota called Maple Grove.
If you enjoy festivals/events, please consider researching what festivals/ events are taking place during your time here- there is always something neat happening!
The home itself: 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom
Enjoy the sun or shade at any time of day! The house sits East-West facing, so you can have the sun on the back deck during morning/early afternoon and shade on the front porch and then sun on the front porch and shade in the evening. The back deck is one of my favorite destinations on planet earth.
Enjoy a quiet work space in the office with mini-fridge (master bedroom also has a table that could be a workspace)
Grill out and have a pleasant evening on the deck enjoying what we lovingly call our 6th family member: “Comfy Couch”- please no food or colored beverages on our beloved.
Sit on the front porch swing and blow bubbles or listen to music
“Enjoy” a workout with dumbbells or with our stair-stepper /elliptical machine
Play one of our many card/ board games/ puzzles and order takeout
There is a path that is directly behind our house. A fantastic trail for running, walking, and biking! ALSO- if you go out the back door, take a right on the path and walk 2 minutes, there's a neighborhood park with a basketball court, baseball court, soccer field, and playground. On the deck, you'll see a deck box full of balls for use. The air pump is in the garage.
GET OUTSIDE!
This is truly a unique location because it is uncommon for suburban homes to be so walkable/ bike-able. You’ll be in a relatively quiet neighborhood but SO close to conveniences and fun!
WALK or BIKE: The following places are all walking distance from our home about 15 to 20 minutes or biking distance about 5 to 10 minutes. These places are a 2-5 minute drive if you choose to drive.
Main Street has several restaurants (a couple with gorgeous outdoor patios, one with a great rooftop patio), a coffee shop, ax throwing at one of the restaurants, frozen yogurt place, and an ice cream shop, among others.
The community center which has an outdoor and indoor pool with a couple waterslides and a lazy river. It also has an indoor playground, indoor basketball, teen center, etc.
Town Green is a special outdoor space with outdoor stage and amphitheater seating. There are a number of outdoor concerts throughout the summer and outdoor movie nights. You can also see the ducks/fish behind the stage. Some people feed them. Great walking trails all around.
The library is right next to Town Green. You could use our library card while you’re here.
The Lookout Bar & Grill is less than a five minute walk from our home. It has a fun patio with playground for kids to play on and volleyball. You can enjoy a beverage and appetizers while the kids play. Lots of fun live music- check the schedule online.
Lifetime Fitness is within walking/biking distance also. You can get a temporary membership if you’d like.
You can walk or bike to Central Park. A walk would take 20-25 minutes. it has a splash pad for the kids, concessions and really fun playground equipment for various age groups.
You can drive 7 minutes or bike 25 minutes to Elm Creek Park reserve- gorgeous bike trails, chlorinated swimming pond/ concessions/ sandy beach and epic playground with fun for various ages.
You can drive 7-8 minutes or bike 25-30 minutes to the Maple Grove arboretum or Nature Center.
5-7 min. DRIVE:
The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes is an outdoor mall with restaurants and shops like Lululemon, Athleta, Bath & Body Works, Claire’s, GAP, Evereve, H&M, J Crew Factory, Ragstock, etc.
Costco, Crumbl Cookie, Ten Sushi, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, DSW, etc, etc- name a store, and it’s here.
10 min drive to Walmart and Target
20-30 minute DRIVE:
Mall of America (MOA)- even if you hate shopping (like me), there is SO MUCH fun to have at MOA on a rainy day or a day that you’re okay being indoors. There’s an entire indoor amusement park with pretty epic rides, tons of great treats and restaurants (Rainforest Cafe is great for kids), Crayola Experience, movie theater, mini-golf, and Sea Life aquarium.

Hello! I am new to home exchanges. We have never done this before! We travel a few times a year, and I always think it's shame that someone else can't use our home. If you come to our home, you will absolutely love how SO MANY fun things are walking and biking distance. I love our home as much as I love all the fun activities around us.
We have three kids, two daughters and a son- ages 13, 10, and 7. We are a little old fashioned about screen time and strongly value boredom, getting outside, and family time. I'm learning how to balance our values with the desires of our teen- goodness help me!
I like to meditate, exercise, read, and- I am sure you're shocked- TRAVEL!
Please know that my Facebook name is fake. I am Veda Shah on Facebook. Please keep this between us!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
Love that the kitchen overlooks the backyard and the living room so that when I am cooking/cleaning, I still feel like I am "with" the family or watching the kids play in the yard.
Shady in the mornings, sunny late afternoons/ early evenings!
Shady in the mornings, sunny late afternoons/ early evenings!
We have a picnic table that will be set up soon! This photo was taken in the late afternoon. From morning until mid-afternoon, it's full sun! Don't worry- head to front porch if you want shade! Shady on the deck every evening- perfect for a summer BBQ using the grill that sadly didn't make it to this photo- it's in the corner on the right.
Doors close for quiet workspace
Coziest room full of board games!
Get a great workout while watching TV, reading a book, watching the kids, or looking out the window!
Giant upstairs playroom/ workout space/ whatever- this couch is a sleeper.
Picnic table with umbrella will be set up in the next couple days!
Loads of games and puzzles!
More games and puzzles- card games, board games, word games, puzzles, oh my!
