Neighbourhood
We live on the edge of Montmartre, the famous and quintessentially Parisian neighbourhood known for its rich artistic history, cobbled streets and vibrant atmosphere. The Sacré-Coeur basilica and it's unique and stunning view of Paris are a 15 minute walk away, as are the trendy neighbourhoods of Abbesses and Butte-Montmartre. The Montmartre cemetary is also very close by, as well as the bust of Dalida, the Wall of I love you (Le mur des je t'aime) and other Montmartroise treasures.
There is a market at the end of our street on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (Marché Ordener), as well as a fabulous organic market a 20 minute walk away which also happens on Saturday mornings (Marché biologique des Batignolles). I am very happy to provide you with a list of our favourite local places.
One of the characteristic features of our neighbourhood is that part of it is a hill - so to reach areas like Butte-Montmartre or the Sacré-Coeur basilica you will be gently winding your way uphill or otherwise taking one of the many long, very photogenic staircases to reach the top. But don't worry, it's the perfect kind of gentle exercise you need to do to burn off all those tasty croissants (and exactly how Parisians stay trim).
The apartment is located in Paris. Street noise is a normal and expected part of Parisian life (including motorbikes, scooters and waste removal).

Getting Around
Around 100 metres from our apartment you will find every kind of shop you need to experience the culinary wonders of France, including an incredible cheese shop, amazing bakeries, many wine cellars, butchers, fish shops, supermarkets and gift shops.
Our area is also home to a huge number of delicious restaurants, bistros, cafés, trendy wine bars and two big beautiful parks with play areas for children.

Tanya
I am an Australian who has been in Paris for 10 years. I travel with my 3 year old daughter who loves to visit Oz as often as possible. We are new to exchanges and excited to share our beautiful apartment with you so that you can live the real Parisien experience in comfort.
We are looking for long exchanges in Australia (in particular on the Gold Coast) any time of year, minimum 4 weeks at a time.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
