General Overview
Beautiful Bend is known for crisp mountain air, high desert landscapes, and a vibrant outdoor recreation mecca. Come and play in the mountains, on the trails and in the river! Also popular are the numerous craft breweries (30+) and foodie scene.
Our home is located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to river trails, community parks, shopping, restaurants/food trucks, and a concert venue. Also close, are world class skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, golfing, fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, rafting, waterfalls, and more. A bit further drive will take you to Crater Lake National Park, Willamette Valley wineries, the Gorge, or the Oregon Coast. There is so much to see and do in Oregon - you will not be disappointed!
The Space
Welcome to our cozy, craftsmen style retreat! The main level is an open floor plan which allows for seamless flow between the living, dining and kitchen areas. A corner gas fireplace provides a warm ambiance for those high desert early mornings or after a day outdoors. A sliding glass door opens to a wrap around deck and yard.
The upper level is where you will find two guest bedrooms with shared bath, master bedroom en-suite, laundry and office nook.
We intend to provide a place where comfort meets adventure, offering the perfect balance of relaxation and connection to nature.
Guest Access
Two-story house, accessed through front door, sliding door on side, or through garage in the back.

Neighbourhood
We have a small neighborhood and our house is located at the end of a dead end street. A nearby canal offers a trail that connects to the river trails. Deer frequent the adjacent open space on the street leading up to our house.
Getting to my home
Driving your own vehicle or a rental will be necessary to get to our home.
Nearest airport
Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is 19 miles north of our home.
Getting Around
Though we live within walking distance to some shops and restaurants, getting around by foot will be a bigger ordeal, unless you have a bike. We recommend having your own vehicle for ease in travel.

We had such a great stay at Laurie and Dan's Bend home. So tastefully done and with all the creature comforts, a fantastic spa, and a well stocked kitchen. Plus, situated at the end of the street surrounded by pines and vegetation, we felt like we were in a treehouse! Their home is just a short distance to some of the great Bend neighborhoods, restaurants, and bars, and we even were able to walk to and from Hayden Homes Amphitheater for a concert we had tickets to. The icing on the cake is how lovely Laurie and Dan are as people. I hope our PLU paths will cross again.
It was a pleasure hosting Nancy and Jerry, and their two friends! Easy communication from the start, and they left our home beautifully clean and tidy! We would gladly welcome them back anytime!
Laurie and Daniel are delightful hosts. We enjoyed our stay in their Bend home. It was just ten minutes from downtown breweries and shopping, a close drive to Mt. Bachelor for skiing, and in a quiet neighborhood.
We loved the spacious bedrooms, crisp linens, and the spa-like bathroom.
It was such a pleasure having Laurie and Daniel to stay at our home! As a bonus, they took care of our sweet little labradoodle as though he were their own. We felt totally confident leaving him in their hands-- and they all had a great time!
Laurie and Daniel were an absolute dream to work with. Fantastic at communicating and checked in just the right amount of time leading up to and during their stay to ask any questions, or let us know how our sweet kitty they were so kind to keep an eye on while we were away, was doing. We're excited to visit their home in Bend, Oregon this summer.
Laurie and Daniel took great care of our cabin. They were easygoing and pleasant to exchange with. We appreciate their flexibility during an unexpected power outage, too!

Wonderful family to exchange with. Friendly, considerate, and they took great care of our home. Everything was smooth and easy. We’d gladly host or exchange with them again.
We had a wonderful stay at Robyn and Joseph’s home in Santa Fe! The setting is peaceful and spacious, offering a true sense of forested retreat while still being close to town. Their home is artsy, comfortable and full of light, and spending time with their dog was an absolute joy! And communication with Robyn was effortless and responsive throughout! We’d happily recommend this home to other exchangers and would love to return.
Feedback for Nancy and Jerry·Non-Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
We had a fantastic holiday stay at Nancy and Jerry’s casa in Los Barriles, and a great home exchange experience overall! Communication with Nancy was easy from start to finish which made the experience feel effortless. Their home is spacious, comfortable, and beautifully located with lovely sea views. We enjoyed many activities in the area (snorkeling, ATV cruising, beach walking) and one of the sweetest touches was spending time with their affectionate cuddle-bug cat. We’d happily recommend this home to other exchangers! We look forward to hosting them in Bend this summer!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Running Dear cabin. Mt Rainier is minutes away for hiking and exploring. Brynn checked in to make sure we had settled in comfortably and if any questions. Whether relaxing in the cabin or out adventuring, you will find the cabin a worthwhile retreat!

Laurie & Daniel
Hello! We are Laurie and Daniel, a friendly, responsible and recently retired couple who love travel and exploring new places. We are passionate about adventure and the beauty of the great outdoors, through hiking, skiing, biking, etc. We take every opportunity to immerse ourselves in nature wherever we go!
At the same time, we have a deep appreciation for city exploration and history. We enjoy wandering through vibrant streets, discovering hidden gems, enjoying new cultures and cuisines, and making meaningful connections along the way.
When not traveling, we love spending time in our own community appreciating the simple joys of life - sharing good food, great conversation and connection.
We sometimes like to travel with dear friends of ours (2 - 4 adults) and if your home accommodates this and you are open to it.
We are excited about the opportunity of a wonderful home exchange experience!
