General Overview
For solo travelers or romantic couples. An extra bed may be possible on request but it is an intimate cocoon that must limit the number of guests for you to have the best experience.
Everything (or almost) is done while walking.
A unique pied-à-terre in Budapest's Golden Triangle.
The place is a bit enchanted, out of time, in the heart of one of the most typical and lively neighborhoods of the old city: Broadway.
In street perspective, the great Basilica and in parallel, the Opera.
Everything is a bit different – starting with the name of the street. O is perhaps the only street in Europe whose name is reduced to a vowel. "O" is historically so ancient that the very meaning of the word ("old, old") has disappeared from modern language.
You are in the theatre district – with its artisan stalls, restaurants, small shops, museums... Next to it is the old Jewish quarter and its ruin bars, other high places of local life, on the corner the Hard Rock Hotel Budapest. Exit... almost everything is done on foot, night and day: enjoy a glass of champagne while admiring the Opera, have breakfast around the corner on the terraces of the cafés on the Esplanade des Théâtres or in the Litsz Park.
In winter, taste langos, chimney cake or mulled wine in a vendéglö (traditional restaurant) and stroll through the surrounding Christmas markets (Basilica, Opera, Vorosmaty ter).
Immerse yourself in the Hungarian thermal baths (direct access in 10 minutes by metro) with the most famous and largest baths in Europe - a marvel of nineteenth-century architecture (Szechenyi: indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, hammam.... and chess players who emerge in the steam of the waters). Return on foot for a half-hour walk (or by bus 105) through the woods, Heroes' Park, and the palaces on Andrassy Avenue. The Danube is less than a twenty-minute walk away.
The location is fantastic: shops, restaurants, bars, museums, theatres. And for the rare times you need it, all public transport (metro, buses, trams, trolleys) are just a few hundred metres away.
The building, protected by the State and listed, dates from 1886. He is in tune with what was the apogee of Pest, its historic crowning. Interior and exterior have been completely renovated.
Your apartment is on the second floor (II em).
.
Most of the original features have been preserved: the concrete floor of the kitchen, the 4 m high ceilings, the parquet floor of the 20 m2 bedroom, the glass wall of the bathroom, the stove... The 19th century stained glass door comes from the former Parisian mansion of the writer Edmond Rostand - author of the world-famous "Cyrano de Bergerac". In fact, Rostand, who was a shipowner, had brought it back from Japan during an Asian merchant expedition where the stained glass window announced... a house of geishas!
Visible from the apartment are the frescoes (not restored) of the house opposite. Take advantage of this cocoon of softness "Belle Epoque" to relax in the mosaic bathroom and its ceramic duo bathtub.
For an even more pleasant stay, the apartment is equipped with Wi-Fi, a TV (local channels), a separate toilet and an Italian kitchen (fridge, oven, microwave oven, induction hob, extractor, dishwasher, washer/dryer – all signed Bosch and Gorenje).
In short, an island for two or for solo travelers who love comfort, originality and charm.
Entire apartment with access by secure keys and intercom.
Other remarks
You are in the heart of Pest and its vibrant life. Not suitable for people looking for absolute calm.
The apartment is on the second floor (II em). As is often the case in these nineteenth-century buildings (especially if they are listed), there is no elevator: the steps are low, wide and easy but are not suitable for a disabled traveler.
The apartment is strictly non-smoking.
Perfectly suitable for travelers without a car. For motorists, there are possibilities to park on the street (for a fee except on weekends and at night) and in the car park of the building next door.
A beautiful sports centre and spa - large swimming pool with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and fitness room - is accessible in the neighbouring building for 7 to 9 euros per entrance (6.30am-10pm on weekdays; 8am-10pm on weekends).
Farmers market on Fridays and Saturdays in Hyunadi.
Nyugati station is one tram station away, Keleti station is 15 minutes away (trolley 78).
Electric scooter rental on the street and bicycle rental in Andrassy.
