Come visit Marblehead! My home is a mere 10 minutes walk to a park with a playground and a rocky beach with fantastic sunsets. 15 minutes walk in the other direction leads to the historic town center with its pubs, waterfront restaurants and shopping areas. A 5 minute car ride takes you to the larger sandy/pebbly beach on the Atlantic ocean side of Marblehead where you’ll find a playground, ice cream and fish and chips at a food stand with outdoor tables. There are many other playgrounds a short distance away. Supermarket is only 5 mins drive or 15 mins walk. Buy artwork, clothes and souvenirs at a variety of boutiques downtown. Bus stop only 12 mins walk from home gets you to the Blue Line T into Boston. Mbta train from Salem (where you can park all day) gets you to Boston and points north eg Gloucester and Newburyport. Salem is a fantastic town to visit with museums and ghostly happenings all the year round!
Getting to my home
Boston/Logan Airport is about 40 minutes away. It is also possible to take the T Blue Line from the Airport to Wonderland then to catch a bus that brings you right to Marblehead. It’s a good idea to have a car to see the local sights though…so many places to explore!
Nearest airport
Boston/Logan Airport is about 40 minutes away. Unless it’s rush hour when it takes a bit longer!
Getting Around
10-15 minute walk to local shops and to the bus stop for the bus that takes you to the Blue Line T stop or the MBTA train line to Boston. A car is advised to take full advantage of local sights that are off the beaten track.

Meet for a drink or coffee! I’ve lived in town for 32 years and can give good recommendations for things to do, places to go etc.
Angela's home in historic Marblehead Massachusetts was clean, comfortable and a the perfect place to relax after a day out. There is so much to see and do in the area and close proximity to Salem. Which is fun but much nicer to come home to Marblehead. There is a beautiful scenic small beach within walking distance with great views across to Salem.
Angela was great to meet and we had a good night out at an Irish session she brought us to. Although we have been to Marblehead many times we learned some good tips from Angela who was always available by what's App if we needed any help. Hope you get over to Doonbeg Angela. Good music is there as well.
Thank you Ginny! Feel free to come back to Marblehead any time! It was fun to meet you and Frank - hope to see you in Ireland and to enjoy more music soon!
We had a wonderful stay with Angela. When we signed up with PLU, I don't think we really fully appreciated the strength and beauty of the community. Meeting people like Angela, and developing friendships, all with a love of travel, is really a testament to PLU. Angela's home was perfect and had everything we needed to enjoy Marblehead, We spent our days walking trails, exploring Marblehead and nearby communities and eating A LOT of seafood....eg oysters and lobsters. There is a real pride of community in Marblehead with a lot of history. Highly recommend!
Thank you Lauren for your lovely feedback and for taking such great care of my home and plants. Come back any time!!
Angela and her friend Jeanne were lovely guests. Angela and I had a lot of back and forth which was easy and informative. We have a lot in common and hope to meet in person one day.
My home was spotless when I returned and she left a treat on the table that I am really looking forward to trying.
I would be happy to have them again and hopefully, one day in the future, go to Marblehead to stay at Angelas house.
It was wonderful to be able to meet Angela and one of her friends in person. Angela was easy to communicate with and prompt in her responses. Angela and her friends left my home very neat and clean. My son needed to drop off large packages in my garage during their stay. Angela was very flexible and made me feel comfortable about making this request.
I look forward to visiting Angela’s home and welcome her again to my home in the future.
It was such a pleasure to host Angela and Rosie in our home. They were wonderful guests, from weeks prior when our exchange discussions began, to when they departed. Angela is very responsive to messages and it was lovely to have a conversation prior to share our experiences with PLU and the exchange process. Clearly seasoned travelers, they were self sufficient and did really well navigating St. Thomas. They also left the suites in great condition. We hope to have them back in the very near future.
We had a great time staying at Gabriella’s cute house in East Van. It was nice to have the garden (with fresh tomatoes from the vine) and front deck with views of the mountains and the ships going past. Plenty of room for 2 friends who need separate bedrooms. Huge well equipped kitchen although we only cooked breakfast. Parking was available free on the street. We were glad to have rented the car and it was easy to get to Granville Market (a must!) and to Squamish and Stanley Park. There is so much to see we hope to come back as we barely scratched the surface! Do not miss the Sky to Sea Gondola in Squamish - the best experience!
Ginny and Frank were great guests - they left the house just as they found it. I enjoyed meeting them and hearing Frank play the banjo at a local Irish seisun! Hope to go to their house in Ireland sometime in the future.
Lauren and Michael were the perfect PLU visitors - left the house in perfect condition and had even laundered the sheets and towels and left a lovely plant as a gift!
We look forward to future exchanges!
My friends and I had a lovely weekend in Ramani’s home. She was so welcoming and had left us homemade bread and wine and everything we could possibly need to be comfortable. The tea cupboard and the spice cupboard were particularly impressive! The bedrooms are spacious and the house is quiet and well-located near green space (we were serenaded by bullfrogs in the pond behind the house!) as well as being close to the center of town (10 minutes in the car) and lots of supermarkets etc. close by. We had a great time, and as it was hot we were particularly grateful for the ceiling fans in the bedrooms. It was also very nice to enjoy our morning tea on the patio out back.
My daughter and I had a fabulous time at Lauren and Michael’s gorgeous home in St Thomas! I could hardly believe how wonderful this spacious home was - the views alone were breathtaking and the rooms were beautiful, fully equipped with all we could need including coffee makers, beach chairs, beach towels and so much more. Lauren kindly took us on a tour of the high spots on the island - it was lovely having them upstairs to offer advice on where to go. There are ample guidebooks there and Lauren offered advice on restaurants and beaches etc. The closest beautiful beach is just 5 minutes drive away. If you are lucky enough to be offered an exchange with Lauren and Michael, do not hesitate! You’ll need a car - would advise a Jeep! Thank you so much Lauren and Michael, looking forward to hosting you in Marblehead!

Hello - I’m a single 71 year old woman originally from England (Yorkshire) and now living just north of Boston in a nice seaside town called Marblehead. I used to host an Airbnb and have done home exchanges in the past. I worked as a fundraiser during my career but now I’m retired enjoying being footloose and fancy-free, aside from some grandma and volunteer duties. (I have 4 grandkids under 6!) I love to travel and meet up with friends (usually from the UK) to take trips. I tend to go to the same places though in the UK to see friends so I’m looking for some new adventures in new locations and hoping to bring a traveling companion or two with me. If the right place comes up I hope to bring family members with me too!
