General Overview

The Haras (horsefarm) is located in Central Calvados, Normandy - 1 hour 40 minutes by train from Paris or 2h30 minutes by car west of Paris on the western highway A13. It is lovely green rural Norman countryside surrounded by horses and cows and orchards - so peaceful and calm. 3 kilometers to the nearest bakery and 14 kilometers to Lisieux , the train station and all shopping amenities. You need a car !

The Space

There is a huge modern kitchen, internet, Netflix, tons of indoor space and a lovely large outdoor garden. There are 3 guest bedrooms on the top floor with a modern bathroom and 2 more bedrooms on the 1st floor - We usually only propose usage of the 3 guest rooms = 6 persons

Guest Access

There's the ground floor and 2 upper floors where the bedrooms are located. The steps are not difficult - but not easy for folks who have difficulty with steps and of course not easy for toddlers . The steps are wood - the flooring in the house is the original wood, plus tile, plus brick.

Notes

There are horses in the nearby pasture all year round and in winter the stable hands bring them into the stables. Great for viewing - not for riding or touching ! The horses belong to our neighbors who are horse racing breeders . It's lovely to have horses on the property. The garden is a great for walks - not the pasture !!

Neighbourhood

The community is composed of several horse breeders as well as dairy farms and orchards. It's really lovely and still convenient to LIsieux and Livarot for shopping. The Normandy landing beaches are close by as is Deauville, and Honfleur and even the Mont St. MIchel.

Getting Around

A car is necessary as the area is quite rural. Car rental is available in Lisieux and in Caen. The train from St. Lazare goes to Lisieux and Deauville and Caen. Lisieux is our stop;
