Neighbourhood

Landsmeer is a peaceful village close to nature and a stone throw away from Amsterdam. With about 15.000 inhabitants Landsmeer has all the necessary facilities nearby; shops, supermarkets, restaurants and cafés, but it still has the charm and peace and quiet of a small village. Landsmeer is positioned between Amsterdam and the nature reserve 't Twiske. With lots of small beaches and walking paths, perfect for a stroll, biking around or a family picnic / bbq. The reserve is famous with biologists because of the diversity of animal species who live here all year round.

Nearest airport

Schiphol (Amsterdam). About 30 minutes by car.

Getting Around

Although Landsmeer is walk-able town, if you want to go to Amsterdam or 't Twiske, (electric) bikes are ideal. It is easy to get around by car in Holland if you want to visit sites of interest further away, Amsterdam is less ideal for cars and parking in the city is quit expensive. Our self we do everything in Amsterdam and around by bike if we want to venture further we take the car or a train. We have an electric cargo bike (bakfiets) which is ideal to take a couple of kids.

Rosa

We are a Dutch family of 5! We have three lovely sons, latest one arrived in May this year. Maikel works as a project manager and Rosa for now is a full time mom. We homeschool our kids. We love the Netherlands but some part of the year we seek adventure, more warmth and nature around us. We live in a village just above Amsterdam and cycle up north into a nature reserve within 5 minutes and down south into city life. We have experience with home exchange through another website, and think its a great way to see the world, end up in unexpected places, experience more local life and enjoy a community.
