We had a WONDERFUL exchange at Luc & Cecile’s home in Bordeaux.
From our very first communication it was clear they are a genuine couple who really wanted the exchange to be a great experience.
The home is newly renovated, very stylish, comfortable & VERY well equipped. In essence a home away from home experience with some lovely extra touches.
We also enjoyed the outdoor sitting area to relax at the end of a busy exploring day.
Luc provided a very comprehensive guide to “must see” off the tourist trail places, music concerts etc that made our week really special.
And to top the experience off they hosted a lovely evening together….we felt very spoilt.
We were very sad to leave & cannot recommend this PLU more HIGHLY.
Thank you Luc & Cecile & family for welcoming us to your home & making our week in the Bordeaux area very special.
From the moment our exchange was confirmed, everything about this experience was absolutely wonderful. Luc and Cecile were incredibly available, kind, and responsive, always making sure I had everything I needed. They prepared a fantastic welcome guide full of thoughtful suggestions—local markets, hidden gems, day trips, and suggested activities (bike riding, kayak, chateaux, etc)—which was invaluable (it became my bible for my stay!)
On arrival, they greeted me in person with such warmth, and even invited me to a delightful apéro with two of their three lovely daughters, where we enjoyed delicious food, excellent wine, and hours of wonderful conversation.
The village, the surrounding area, and their neighbors were just as welcoming—everyone I encountered was friendly and eager to help. Throughout my stay, my hosts stayed in touch via WhatsApp, sharing extra tips and personal recommendations that really enriched my trip. they even surprised me with a beautiful goodbye breakfast on my last day—such a kind and thoughtful way to end my stay, and a very touching gesture.
I was traveling solo, seeking some peace and quiet, and their warmth and care made all the difference. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and felt at home. This was more than just an exchange—it was an experience filled with genuine kindness, generosity, and connection.
I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you have the opportunity to exchange with them, consider yourself very lucky—you’re in for something truly special!
We had a truly wonderful week in Cecile and Luc’s lovely home near Bordeaux. They, together with their children, were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful, making us feel right at home from the very beginning. They generously shared many excellent recommendations for markets, restaurants, wineries, and fascinating cultural sites such as old forts and castles.
One of the highlights was a delightful evening we spent together, enjoying great wine, delicious food, and wonderful company — a memorable experience that also gave us the chance to learn more about French culture.
The house was spotless, well-equipped, and had everything we needed. Our boys especially loved the outdoor area with its lounge space, table tennis, and dart games, while we all enjoyed the pool right next door. The peaceful surroundings made it easy to relax, yet the location was also perfect for exploring the many attractions, vineyards, markets, and local cuisine in the region.
All in all, a stay we can wholeheartedly recommend.
Staying in Luc and Cecile’s charming cottage was the highlight of our trip! They’ve done a beautiful job with so many lovely details. They welcomed us as we arrived late at night with fruit, bread, wine, and more - what a welcome sight!
It stays quite cool inside the home even during hot weather and has such an airy and comfortable atmosphere. Their whole family are warm and welcoming and we loved sharing food and conversation during an evening of our stay. Our kids especially loved the pool. Luc and Cecile put together a wonderful list of activities available to us before we arrived, which was so helpful.
We could have been happy to wander the Bordeaux countryside much longer and none of us wanted to leave! Besides tasting wines at Chateaux, we toured the incredible monolithic church in St Emilion, enjoyed a really fun kayak trip through an old forest and could’ve spent a lot more time in the beautiful city of Bordeaux. The food everywhere is incredible and the nights are cool even when the days are hot. We will definitely return!
Thank you very much this is a beautiful message, we appreciated you, you will be welcome if you want to come again we will make you new suggestions for visits with great pleasure.
Luc, Cecille and their daughters were wonderful exchange partners! Our communication was great from the very beginning. We felt very comfortable trusting this family with our home. They took very good care of it and followed our requests and instructions beautifully. Pirrot family are sweet, responsible and respectful people. We are grateful they chose our home for their vacation!
Beverley and Ben are a really friendly, jovial and discreet couple. They were eager and curious to want to discover French culture and its heritage in all its forms.
During their stay, the house was very well maintained, everything was spotless when they left.
We had joyful and warm exchanges. It's always a pleasure to meet people who come from so far away and are so pleasant. Looking forward to seeing you again Beverley and Ben.
Thank you for your kind words Luc & Cecile.
We are home in NZ now but still basking in the wonderful memories of our stay in your beautiful home & region!
Very nice meeting with Emily. Thank you for these pleasant and rich moments of exchange. We are happy to have met you.
We enjoyed our discussions over a good wine.
We are happy with your curiosity to know our region that you have really invested in discovering its villages, its nature, its rivers ... We will share your idea of cycling through the vineyards of St Emilion
We really appreciated your description of Brussels, which really makes us want to discover this city.
Emily is a very pleasant person, attentive and respectful of the space loaned. The house was spotless at the end of the stay and we thank you for that.
We look forward to seeing you here or in Brussels!
We are very happy with this exchange. We had a great time in Roger, Lana and Ryan's apartment. We were able to rest there throughout our stay. It is close to the center of Coimbra by bus. Very well located also for shopping, shops are nearby, the shopkeepers with whom we spoke are very friendly and welcoming (especially the baker and pastry chef at the bottom of the mmh building!). The apartment is well equipped for a holiday stay, the description in the ad and the details sent before coming (including for suggestions for visits) were complete and original (short videos for the use of utensils...). All the rooms are bright, the bedding is comfortable.
We were able to exchange, as needed, with Roger and Lana by messaging.
Coimbra is an interesting city in its center in heritage and culture. It is well located for visiting the center of Portugal, between the mountains where swimming is pleasant and relaxing, the villages and the beaches to the west.
Thank you Roger, Lana and Ryan for this exchange!
Vicki, Kasper, Villads, Lukas, we are happy to have met you. We very much appreciated your quality of contact, that of your children, your humor and the desire to exchange. Thank you for the few moments we spent together, especially when we took some time for the tasting of local wines. It was a good time. The house was spotless, tidy when you left and we thank you very much.
Very nice meeting with Leah, Scott, Etta, Oliver. We are very happy with this first exchange which went very well. Thank you for these moments of exchange, especially when we took some time together for the tasting of a white wine "Entre deux Mers". It was a good time that makes you want to get to know you even better. The house was spotless, tidy when you left and we thank you very much. Looking forward to seeing you again!
