General Overview

We have a four bedroom and 2.5 bathroom home with warm and inviting atmosphere. Conveniently located with easy freeway access, it's a quick 20 minute drive to Washington, D.C. We have little kids so our home is fully equipped to accommodate children of all ages. We have a large backyard. Our neighborhood is beautiful and quiet with friendly neighbors. A bike-share station is conveniently located at the entrance of our neighborhood. Situated in the vibrant city of Fairfax, our home is surrounded by a variety of grocery stores, including Asian and specialty markets. Dining options are abundant, ranging from fast food to fine dining, with cuisines such as American, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese, among others. We are a short drive from 2 large malls and several cute shopping centers. There are many parks with awesome playgrounds and walking trails near by (within walking distance or short driving distance). The Washington, DC, northern Virginia and Maryland (DMV) area offers a wide range of memorable activities for all ages. You can explore several Smithsonian museums and zoo for free, both perfect for curious kids and adults alike. For outdoor adventures, Great Falls Park provides stunning waterfall views and scenic hiking trails, and several man-made lakes nearby are ideal for boating, fishing, and picnics. Rock Creek Park and the C&O Canal towpath offer additional great options for nature walks and biking. Historic Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria add to the charm with their picturesque waterfronts, cobblestone streets, and timeless architecture. Day trips that are less than 1.5 hours one way: Harper’s Ferry WV, Annapolis MD, Baltimore MD, Gettysburg PA, Shenandoah National Park.

The Space

Primary bedroom and guest bedroom each has a queen bed. Our daughter’s room has a full bed. Our office has a pull out queen bed with a memory foam mattress. Our boys’ room has 2 full size cribs (we probably will transfer them to toddler beds in the near future). We also have an extra queen bed frame/mattress, a queen inflatable bed, 2 pack and plays, and 2 foldable play yards that can be set up anywhere in the house.

Guest Access

Ground floor, one floor up, and one floor down (basement). All bedrooms are on the floor upstairs. Basement only has the washer and dryer.

Nearest airport

Dulles International (IAD) is 25 mins away. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is 25 mins away. We live right in the middle of the 2 airports.

Getting Around

Car is recommended though public transportation (bus, subway) is very convenient. You can drive to the subway station nearest to us (Vienna Metro Station) and park the car, then take subway into Washington DC. We prefer to drive into DC. Parking in DC (except the National Mall and residential areas) is free on Sundays and federal holidays, but check parking signs to confirm. Parking across the zoo is free on Sundays but go early (8am) and you’ll easily find parking. Other than that, street parking in DC is not expensive. In Virginia, the EZ Pass Flex is a special transponder for when you have 3 or more people in the car. When you slide it to HOV mode, the system signals that you have 3 or more people in the car, allowing you to use I-495, I-95, I-66 Express Lanes, and I-66 toll road for free. This has saved us so much time and money when traffic is bad. Our car is equipped with an EZ Pass Flex. If you’re driving your car, you can purchase one for $35 which is automatically loaded with $35 credit. Note that you won’t be able to ride on these express lanes and toll road for free even with 3 or more people if you don’t have an EZ Pass Flex transponder.
