Neighbourhood
We love our neighborhood! We consider it to be one of the best in the City of Buenos Aires. It has the perfect balance between a quiet neighborhood, a wide range of shops and means of transport to quickly and easily reach places of interest in the rest of the city.
Our apartment is in Villa Urquiza R, a residential neighborhood, with a large number and variety of specialty cafes, bars, restaurants, theaters, shops of all kinds (supermarkets, laundries, bakeries, greengrocers, banks, pharmacies, gyms), the Villa Urquiza Market and squares with a lot of green to enjoy sports, walks, cultural activities, picnics and outdoors.
You can travel quickly and cheaply to other parts of the city by public transport, which is abundant in this neighborhood:
- Subway (Metro): Line B (Juan Manuel de Rosas Station) connects directly with the city center, passing through neighborhoods such as Villa Crespo and Palermo until reaching the emblematic Corrientes Avenue. In just 25 minutes you can be at the Obelisk.
- Train: The Mitre Line (Suárez Branch) stops at Urquiza Station, allowing you to reach Belgrano in a few minutes or continue to Retiro, one of the main transportation centers of the city.
- Colectivos (buses): Numerous bus lines cross the neighborhood and take you to different points in Buenos Aires. Some of the most useful for tourists are:
* 107: Direct connection with Palermo and Recoleta.
* 71 and 93: They lead to San Telmo and the historic center of the city.
* 114 and 133: They reach La Boca and Caminito.
* 168: Ideal to go to downtown and Puerto Madero.
- Bicycles: Buenos Aires has a system of free public bicycles (Ecobici), with several stations in the neighborhood to move sustainably around the Latin American city with the largest number of bike lanes.
It is also within very reasonable driving distances of the airports (domestic and international) and ferry stations (connection with Uruguay and reception of cruise ships).
Villurca (as we affectionately call the neighborhood) is one of Buenos Aires' best-kept secrets. A residential neighbourhood with the perfect balance between the tranquillity of its tree-lined streets and the vibrant energy of the city. Here, locals greet each other as they pass by, specialty cafes mingle with historic still lifes, and parks invite you to enjoy the outdoors.
Located in the northern part of the city, Villa Urquiza is ideal for those looking for an authentic porteño experience, away from mass tourism but with excellent connections to the rest of Buenos Aires. In a few minutes, you can be in Palermo, the Center or even on the river. In addition, it has a constantly growing gastronomic offer, from traditional grills to vegan options and artisanal pastry shops.
If you like to move around by bike, walk along wide sidewalks or discover small cultural corners such as independent bookstores and alternative theaters, Villa Urquiza will make you fall in love. And if laid-back nightlife is your thing, the neighborhood offers bars and breweries with an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
Staying here means living Buenos Aires like a local, enjoying the authenticity of a Buenos Aires neighborhood with the comfort of a home away from home.
