We have a cute 3-bedroom 1955 (year) block house in the San Jose area of Jacksonville, FL approximately a quarter mile away from the St. Johns River. The front room is a combo kitchen, dining room and sitting area and there is a TV den behind it.
We are in a centrally located area in Jacksonville with easy access to I-95, 1-295 and other major roads. We are 8 miles from downtown, 6 from the quaint area of San Marco Square and 19 miles from Jacksonville Beach.
We are in a prime location for visiting University of North Florida, going to a Jacksonville Jaguars game, visiting the Mayo Clinic, the Naval Air Station, Mayport, or attending any event that Jacksonville is hosting.
Savannah, Georgia is 2.5 hours north and Disney is 2.5 hours southwest. There are also several beautiful crystal clear Florida springs that make easy day trips. Our family is very knowledgeable about this if you would like more information. (Look up Ichetucknee Springs, Silver Glen Springs, Alexander Springs, Salt Springs and Gilchrist Blue Springs...just to name a few.) We also may have inflatable tubes (like inner tubes) and two inflatable two-person kayaks available, if we aren't using them somewhere else ourselves.)
I like our home because it's cozy and decorated nicely and in an older neighborhood with beautiful mature Spanish Oak trees on our property. I work from home and always can hear the birds singing.
The Space
Our home is around 1300 square feet with 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. At the time of this writing, I am not sure if my girls' bedrooms will be available for use. However, the master bedroom will be. And the couch in the TV room can accommodate a third person, if they would like to sleep there (5.5 ft long in between the arms of the couch.)
The backyard is fenced and there is beautiful tree coverage.
We may consider allowing a small dog, but would need to discuss.
Guest Access
There are 3 steps to walk up to get onto our front porch and into our house. Guests will have use of the master bedroom, all the main living space (kitchen, TV room, front room, etc) and the two bathrooms. The washer and dryer are in the garage.

Neighbourhood
We live in an older neighborhood, built in the 50's. Our neighbors are friendly and there are many people out walking for exercise or out walking dogs in the mornings and afternoon/evenings.
Getting to my home
It is best to have a vehicle here.
Nearest airport
Jacksonville International Airport - we live 25 miles south of it.
Getting Around
There are grocery stores very close by, but not walking diatance, and the huge outdoor mall called the St. Johns Town Center is 9 miles from us. It boasts 175+ stores as well as many, many restaurants. The St. Augustine Premium Outlet mall is approximately a 30 min (28 mile) drive from us, as well.
Jacksonville is huge! It is the largest city (size-wise) in the United States. Different areas of town have different cultures and scenery, so you can have many different experiences here:
Beaches - Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach and others. Beach vibe!
Riverside / Five Points / Brooklyn - Artsy, vintage, eccentric, walkable
San Marco / Southbank of the St. Johns River near downtown - Historic neighborhood with boutiques and cafes with outdoor seating. Across the river, the Avondale area is like this, too!
Plus, many more diverse areas! Read about them and see pictures here:

We are a couple in our early to mid 50's with two daughters, currently ages 15 and 10 (as of Feb 2025.) We live in Jacksonville, FL and have owned a small local business for 14 years - Safety First CPR and Safety Training, teaching CPR, First Aid and other safety certification courses. My husband is also a K-8th grade teacher, currently teaching STEM (science, tech, engineering, math.) We love to travel together on family vacations and we have used AirBnB for around a decade now, with very good reviews. We always take good care of the homes we stay in and leave them clean.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
This is the master bedroom, where you would sleep. There are two other bedrooms (our girls' rooms) but I haven't decided if they will be available or not.
Our dog - Shih Tzu / Maltese. She doesn't have to travel with us, nor will she be at the house while you're here. However, if we are driving and it is alright to bring her with us, just let us know.
TV room / den. The couch has two recliner seats.
We have two recliner chairs in the front room sitting area.
We have a fenced in backyard with a deck, however - at the moment - the deck needs to be power washed and the foliage in the yard needs to be cut back and cleaned up. Will be getting to that, slowly but surely.
Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine
St. Augustine, FL
Historic St. Augustine, 35 miles south of us (45 min)
Boneyard Beach, a mile-long stretch of shoreline in Big Talbot Island State Park, Florida, is known for its massive, sun-bleached driftwood trees that resemble an elephant graveyard. 35 miles north of us, along the scenic route to Amelia Island.
