Neighbourhood
Kingscliff is a beautiful, easy-going beach-side town away from the hustle and bustle, but still offers plenty to do – your stay can be as relaxing or as active as you want it to be. With the creek and South beach mere meters away you are spoilt for choice with many swimming, surfing, stand up paddle board, snorkelling and fishing options. Or slow down and find a shady spot under a tree with a good book. The bike path that connects Kingscliff to Cabarita is a fantastic way to explore the area. While cycling along pop into one of the many superb eateries such as Osteria (a fantastic laid back Italian restaurant), Spice Den (delicious Thai food) or Paper Daisy at Halcyon House (incredible beach front dining in Cabarita).
Further afield you have Brunswick Heads (30min), Byron Bay (45min) and of course the glitz and glamour of world renowned Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise.
Or why not explore the hinterland towns such as Mullumbimby, Bangalow or Murwillumbah.
Getting to my home

Getting Around
It is a 15 minute walk to Kingscliff town, If you want to explore beyond a car is recommended. We can consider a car exchange. We can also leave beach bikes if interested.
I loved my stay at Stef and Elle’s. Barely used my car. Beach walks, ocean dips & bike rides. The Salt Mill for my favourite morning coffee ☕️
Rode out to Fingal Heads & Cabarita Beach. Stef was so easy to deal with and was even happy for me to stay a couple of extra days as I still had PLUers from Scotland at my home.
We loved Kingy Cottage! A wonderful home away from home with sea breezes and ocean views, and so peaceful and welcoming. Just a short walk to the nearby park and beautiful Cudgen creek. Close to Kingscliff village with its great cafes and restaurants - not to mention that fantastic beach. Stef was super helpful and always available for info or just a chat. Awesome hosts! Thank you so much Stef and Elle!
We could not have had a better introduction to PLU than staying at Stef and Elle's sweet Kingscliff apartment ✨
Great location being a short walk to the creek and town and central for exploring the delights of the stunning Northern Rivers region🍹
The accommodation had everything we needed and is very comfortable. The Wieners had a fully fenced yard to explore and felt right at home. 🐶
We are so grateful for this time away. 🙏
well we just completed our Non sim exchange with Stef and Ellie, and it was such a great exchange. The little cottage was a lovely escape whilst we were in town for a family event. Our own space to enjoy. Wouldn't hesitate to do another exchange.
We had a fabulous time at Stef & Elles home...
Great location
Lovely clean home...really comfy beds...
Fab location within easy reach of Kingscliff....and the beach
We also had the opportunity to eat at Taverna a local restaurant which we highly recommend
If you are looking for a Northern NSW getaway we would not hesitate to recommend Kingy Cottage!
We recently had the best weekend away at Stef and Elle's amazing Kingy Cottage. Their home is so well positioned to explore the best of the region, and it is only a short walk to the nearby Kingscliff or Salt Village along the path by the creek where you can enjoy beautiful cafes, parks, playgrounds and shops. The Cudgen creek right next to the home is great for Kayaking, swimming and fishing.
The home itself is so cozy, quiet and had everything that we needed. Stef as a host communicated well in the lead up to our stay and kept in touch with us while we were there to make sure we had everything that we needed. He even generously offered us an extra night, which was such a thoughtful gesture and really appreciated.
As someone who grew up in the region, it was really special to be able to visit. There is so much to see and explore, especially for kids and an INCREDIBLE food scene. Some of our all time favourites are Izakaya Potts (10 mins drive), Spice Den Chef's Sunday Banquet at Casaurina (5 mins drive), Siblings at Kirra (15 mins drive) and Mahsuri Thai at Salt Village 5 mins drive).
One of the absolute highlights of our weekend was the Northern Rivers Historical Rail Trail, where we rode along the gorgeous country side of the Tweed River basin. There are many starting points along the trail, but we started in Burringbar, NSW (maybe 20 mins drive) and rode towards Mooball which was awesome.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and we hope that our paths cross again next time we visit Australia.
Stef and Elle’s home had absolutely everything we needed and was in such a great location. We loved being able to cook at home with a really well equipped kitchen, or we were really close to town when we wanted to go out. The outdoor area was lovely and we really enjoyed the fire pit. Stef was really easy to deal with and very responsive and we appreciated the bits and pieces they left to get us started.
The Kingy Cottage was a great place to experience Kingscliff - the place had everything we needed to soak up the Northern NSW vibe. We surfed everyday from Cabarita to Kirra and we danced the Saturday night away at the Kingscliff Hotel - wow, that place was fun!!! The creek and the open ocean have so much to offer in terms of walks or bike rides.
The house is beautifully renovated and comfortable with all mod cons, thanks to Stef and Ellen.
We also enjoyed the best dinner at the local Greek-inspired Unicorn Seafood Restaurant - divine!
Highly recommended our hosts 🥰
What wonderful guests for our very first Non-Reciprocal Exchange! I was certainly a wee bit nervous leaving our family home to "friends we had not yet met" but Stef & Elle immediately put my mind at ease with excellent pre arrival and during their stay communication. They left our home beautifully, with linen washed, beds re made, cleaning done and even left us some beautiful flowers to come home to. Would welcome them back anytime. Thank you for making our very first experience on PLU such a positive one. Happy future travels! The Byrons.
Such a delight to host Stef, Ellen and little ones. Fabulous communication and a lovely tidy home after, for which we are very grateful. We look forward to hosting them again. 🙏
Stef and Elle left our home in fabulous condition
We came home to our place just as we left it
You would never know that 2 little boys were in our home
Great, respectful guests
I had a seamless exchange with Stef and Ellie, I returned home to no sign they had been here! Everything was perfect. Can’t wait to return the favor when staying at their property soon.
We had an absolutely incredible stay at Anna's and Graham's home in Auckland. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how peaceful and relaxing the home felt — it truly is a little oasis.
The heated swimming pool and spa were a standout and made our stay feel like a luxury retreat. We spent so much time there, especially unwinding in the evenings. The kids absolutely loved the trampoline, and the double garage playroom was such a bonus — it kept them entertained for hours and gave everyone space to relax.
The beds were extremely comfortable, which made a big difference after busy days exploring, and the overall layout of the home created such a calm, easygoing atmosphere. Everything just felt effortless and welcoming.
The location is perfect too — tucked away in a lovely, peaceful suburb, yet only about a 20-minute drive to the CBD, making it easy to enjoy both relaxation and the city when driving in.
Overall, this is top-class living in every sense. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would absolutely love to return.
Thank you guys!

Nat was an absolute pleasure to host. She left the cottage neat and tidy, which we really appreciated. Communication was excellent throughout her stay, and it was lovely keeping in touch and hearing about all the great cycles she was getting up to while exploring the area. Looking forward to when we can swap with Nat again.

Feedback for Brian & Liza·Non-Reciprocal exchange·7 nights
We couldn’t have asked for better guests. This lovely couple were an absolute pleasure to host and truly the kind of guests every host hopes for in a swap. From the moment they arrived, they were thoughtful and considerate — even kindly bringing in washing I had left on the line. Above and beyond that, they generously washed, dried, and remade the beds before leaving, all during a time when they themselves were very busy.
Their care, kindness, and respect for our little cottage were exceptional. We would super happy to organise another swap and highly recommend them to other hosts without hesitation.

We had an amazing stay at Natalee's apartment in Surfers Paradise! The apartment was perfectly presented, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The location was unbeatable, and I didn't need a car at all thanks to the excellent public transport options like trams and buses. Even better, we could just hop on ours bicycles! The warm swimming pool downstairs kept the boys entertained all day, and we loved the gym, steam bath, and sauna. The weather was perfect, and the views were breathtaking. Highly recommend Natalee's place to others keen on a Gold Coast swap!
It was such a wonderful experience exchanging with Suz and Tone. Their home was an absolute delight — peaceful, relaxing, and full of charm. We especially loved spending tranquil afternoons admiring the beautiful view from the deck or cooling off in the plunge pool. Collecting fresh eggs from all the lovely chickens each morning was such a treat for the kids!
Suz and Tone were also fantastic guests at our little cottage. They took great care of everything and left it spotless on departure. We’re already looking forward to arranging another exchange with them in the not to far future when the timing suits us both.
Feedback for Clare·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
It was such a pleasure exchanging with Clare. We loved staying at her beautiful home and equally enjoyed hosting her at ours. She took wonderful care of our little cottage and left it clean and tidy upon departure. We’d be delighted to exchange with her again when the timing suits us both.
Feedback for Sandi & Steve·Simultaneous exchange·4 nights
We had a wonderful stay in Sandi and Steve's home.
It was comfortable, clean and had everything we could need for a relaxing few days.
We loved how peaceful and spacious their property is. We enjoyed the pool and watching the birds feeding in the afternoons.
The location was close to Ipswich which we spent a day exploring. We'd highly recommend Sandi and Steve's place for a stay close to Brisbane.

Feedback for Clare·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Clare’s beautiful home! The house is incredibly comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Her home is so well positioned to explore the best of the area, including Sanctuary Cove with all the lovely restaurants and quaint shops. The nearby facilities were also fantastic and kept us busy enough that we could have easily have stayed for longer.
Clare was a great host and communicated everything we needed to know. We highly recommend.
Thankyou so much for our stay, Clare!
Feedback for Aanah·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Aanah and her family at our cottage, and we couldn't have asked for a better guest. Since we joined the PLU community, she has been nothing but supportive — always ready to share helpful tips, tricks, and insights that clearly show her experience and deep understanding of how everything works on the platform.
Not only was she incredibly kind and communicative, but she also treated our space with the utmost respect. When she left, the cottage was almost cleaner than when we handed it over — a true testament to the care she puts into everything she does.
We’re so grateful to have connected with her and would welcome her back in a heartbeat. Anyone would be lucky to host her!
Feedback for jacqui·Simultaneous exchange·5 nights
We had a fantastic stay at Jacqui and Chris’s place. Their home was welcoming, spotless, and perfectly equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing swap. The outlook deck overlooking the reserve was wonderfully peaceful—a perfect spot to unwind. The location was quiet and tranquil, with several easy walks and bike rides nearby that led to stunning headlands and beaches.
The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The kitchen was fully stocked with every utensil and gadget you could possibly need. Much like our own home, a good manual coffee machine was a must-have, and luckily, they had one too—definitely a highlight! :)

Michelle and James’ house was absolutely divine! From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were stepping into a five-star luxury hotel—but with all the warmth and comfort of a family home.
The house had everything you could possibly need. It was spacious, with large, comfortable bedrooms and plenty of cozy spots to sit back, relax, and enjoy the gentle ocean breezes.
The spa was truly the highlight of our stay! Even though it rained solidly for three days, the boys spent hours in there, completely entertained and happy.
Michelle’s home is perfectly positioned—just a short drive to Lennox Head or the world-famous Byron Bay. It’s also conveniently close to Ballina, only a few minutes away.
Traveling with children? Just meters from the house, there’s a well-equipped playground and a large grassy area where kids can burn off energy safely and happily.
Not sure Michelle and James can improve the house anymore... it was perfect in every way!
Michelle and her family took great care of our home. Thank you again for letting us stay in yours.
