Neighbourhood

All of the homes in our one-street neighborhood are on at least an acre. It's quiet and off the beaten track, but only blocks from US 127 which will take you to the grocery store, restaurants, and out to larger metro areas such as Nashville, Knoxville, or Chattanooga.

  • We had such a great time at Amy’s home. The home is in a neighborhood with about 10 homes, but very rural besides that. It was a lovely, peaceful location. Our son and DIL joined us for a portion of our 2 week stay and it was very comfortable for all 4 of us. The views from the home are breathtaking. We did do 1 overnight to Nashville (2.5 hrs away) and 1 overnight to Pigeon Forge (2.5 hrs away) and a couple of days trips to Chattanooga and then spent a few days just relaxing at the house. Amy felt like a friend by the time this exchange was done- but isn’t that part of the PLU magic…. If you love the outdoors- this would be a fantastic stay as we went chasing waterfalls and some were 30 min from the home and some were a little farther and soooo worth the chase. On our last night in Pikeville the town had a Cruise In Car show so we went to the Butter Dish for dinner then walked around the cute little town and checked out all the cars. I highly recommend an exchange with Amy & Fred.

  • Me and my kids stayed for a week. It was a wonderful stay, the hosts were very communicative. The home was excellent, just as described, and so cozy. We enjoyed Chattanooga a few days for the aquarium and the discovery museum. We also loved the small town location but close enough to bigger city's. We spent our evenings on the porch while kids rode there bikes. We would absolutely stay again.

We're Fred and Amy, quasi-retired and looking for some travel, particularly to the countryside of Ireland, England, Switzerland and Germany. In exchange, you'll find a quaint little 3-BR home in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley of Tennessee, USA. We love the quietness and beauty here in the midst of the Cumberland Mountains, and we think you will too! Amy is still involved in freelance corporate communications, writing, and songwriting and Fred is a history buff. In our home you'll find a 100-year-old grand piano, hundreds of books, a wonderful back deck with views of field, forest, and mountain, and wonderful spaces to rest, reflect, and enjoy life. You'll want a car in order to get to restaurants, theaters or the excitement of big cities like Nashville (130 miles), Knoxville (70 miles).
