General Overview
Our little home is the perfect place for a restful holiday. Its footprint is small and easy to keep up with, but it has three nice-sized bedrooms (one is used as home office with pullout Serta sleeper sofa), an open concept living, dining, kitchen, two full bathrooms, a large, covered back deck with grill, table & chairs. All this sits on a beautiful acre in a neighborhood outside town about 7 miles. You're not isolated, but neither are you crowded. It is light-filled, airy and peaceful, has a bonus room with comfortable seating and a lovely grand piano. The pace of life here is slow, but you can find action and adventure in Nashville, Knoxville or Chattanooga, all within a few hours by car.
The Space
On an acre, there's space for leisure including a large back, covered deck with table and chairs. Inside, colors are mostly neutral and restful and furnishings comfortable. A very comfortable king bed in master en suite, a queen sleigh bed, and a queen sleeper sofa complement the three bedrooms, and a full bath serves the other two bedrooms. The kitchen hosts all appliances, beautiful granite countertops and an open concept for dining (at island or table) and living room with comfy seating. The only thing you WON'T find is a lot of electronics. We're just happy without big TVs and stereos. You can feed your computer screen to a TV in master via HDMI cable and we offer high-speed WIFI throughout the home.
Guest Access
Single-story living, easy, breezy. Two steps up from driveway and you're in. One step down into bonus/piano room.
Notes
We are only 20 miles from two of Tennessee's most beautiful state parks (Fall Creek Falls and Cumberland Mountain); both have lodges, swimming pools, nice restaurants and hiking/kayaking. We're only 2 hrs. from the wonders of Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Gatlinburg. We also have two adult bikes for your use.

Neighbourhood
All of the homes in our one-street neighborhood are on at least an acre. It's quiet and off the beaten track, but only blocks from US 127 which will take you to the grocery store, restaurants, and out to larger metro areas such as Nashville, Knoxville, or Chattanooga.
Getting to my home
Nashville (BNA) and Knoxville (TYS) both have major airports and rental car facilities. Our home is about 130 miles from the Nashville airport, and about 70 from the one in Knoxville.

Amy
We're Fred and Amy, quasi-retired and looking for some travel, particularly to the countryside of Ireland, England, Switzerland and Germany. In exchange, you'll find a quaint little 3-BR home in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley of Tennessee, USA. We love the quietness and beauty here in the midst of the Cumberland Mountains, and we think you will too!
Amy is still involved in freelance corporate communications, writing, and songwriting and Fred is a history buff. In our home you'll find a 100-year-old grand piano, hundreds of books, a wonderful back deck with views of field, forest, and mountain, and wonderful spaces to rest, reflect, and enjoy life. You'll want a car in order to get to restaurants, theaters or the excitement of big cities like Nashville (130 miles), Knoxville (70 miles).
"Would love coastal (particularly Western) Ireland for the month of May. May in Tennessee will be beautiful!"
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
Welcome to the Sequatchie Valley of Tennessee, USA and our home!
Our little neighborhood is one just one street :)
Full kitchen with new fridge, dishwasher and microwave and everything you'll need for making beautiful meals. There will also be 2-3 bar stools at the island.
We've lived in Tennessee twice and love, love, love it. So much to do between the beautiful outdoors and the major cities of Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.
Top of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Gatlinberg, TN
Views in Cades Cove are picture-worthy at every turn. They close off the road for bicycles once a week. You can rent bikes or borrow ours (2).
The Foothills Parkway is an astonishing drive in either direction from the GSMNP
Fall Creek Falls State Park is only 30 minutes from home.
We do have some basic tenting equipment we could loan. Very basic -- not for the camping snob :)
Little River running through the GSMNP
Sunset from the top of GSMNP, Clingman's Dome, 332 feet up to the top of the highest peak in Tennessee, 6600+ (path is paved).
Knoxville is the home of University of Tennessee and the 1982 World's Fair Sunsphere tower.
Nashville!
Nashville...so much music and the Grand Old Opry is 2 hrs from home.
Chattanooga, home to several Civil War battlefields and the beautiful Tennessee River.
We've been to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga and really enjoyed it with our grands. Very nicely done.
Open concept kitchen, dining and living areas. Light-filled, peaceful, and reconfigurable depending on number of travelers.

This is our new addition where the garage used to be. 100 year old grand which gets good use at our house. All we ask is that you treat it with love.
Home sweet home :)

A peaceful shot near our home in the valley.
Our little town often has events, classic car shows, antiques weekends, etc. It's the county seat of Bledsoe County so that has its advantages.
