General Overview
Our cozy home is filled with light, music, and creativity. We love that it feels both peaceful and lively—a place where our family can gather, create, and unwind. One of our favorite spots is our enclosed outdoor patio, which feels like a peaceful oasis—a perfect place to sip coffee in the morning with a book or relax with a cocktail as the sun sets. What makes our home even more special is our large, private backyard with beautiful mature trees—a rare find so close to the city! It’s the perfect place for our kids to run free, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. We’ve poured lots love into every corner, making it a place that truly feels like home. We also have a sweet Golden Retriever who we take with us most of the time, but we can also leave her with a friend if needed!
The Space
We live in a charming white brick, ranch-style home with four bedrooms, a dedicated office space/art studio, and plenty of room for families to spread out and relax. Nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac in a family-friendly neighborhood, our home offers both comfort and fun.
Upstairs, you’ll find a spacious bonus room with a ping pong table, nuggets to build forts, a calm down swing, toys for kids to enjoy, and a guest bedroom with a TV. Our favorite spot is the huge screened-in patio—our outdoor living room—where we love sharing meals and unwinding. Our home has 2.5 baths, a cozy wood-burning fireplace, and a gas range oven for cooking up delicious meals. We also have a coffee grinder, drip coffee maker, and a Breville Barista Touch espresso machine. I love making sourdough bread, and am happy to leave my starter fed and ready to bake with for guests!
For outdoor fun, we have a basketball hoop, soccer goals, bikes, tree swings, a mini ninja tree course, and plenty of other toys for the whole family. Another TV is available in the kids’ living space for extra entertainment.
We’re located close to parks and a beautiful greenway that follows the Little Harpeth River—perfect for biking, walking, playing in the shallow parts, or simply just enjoying nature. Our family often rides bikes there, as well as to the neighborhood library and YMCA.
Inside, creativity and music thrive! We have endless craft supplies for kids to use freely, books everywhere, and plenty of family games. Music lovers will appreciate our beautiful upright Yamaha piano in the main living space and a keyboard in our office/art studio.
I also love growing flowers and have a backyard cutting garden, where I bring in fresh blooms all summer long and even into the winter. It’s one of my favorite ways to bring a little extra beauty and joy into our home.
Guest Access
Our home is two stories, with the upstairs serving as a dedicated bonus space for the kids to play, along with a guest bedroom. The main living area downstairs features three additional bedrooms plus our office/art studio. We have a two car garage that we use for storing all of our bikes and lawn supplies. We typically come in through our back courtyard door that has a door code.
Notes
We’re surrounded by amazing food, coffee, live music, hiking trails, parks, and endless things to do just minutes away. We’re only 12 miles from Broadway’s live music scene. We have a wonderful community of friends ready to help if ever needed!

Hillary
Hello! We’re Hillary and Shane, and we’ve called Nashville home for over 17 years. Shane is a physician at Vanderbilt, and I’m a songwriter, and painter. We homeschool our five children, which gives us the wonderful flexibility to travel, explore, and learn together. Our dream is to see more of the world as a family, and we’re excited about the possibility of exchanging homes with like-minded travelers. We also have a sweet 2-year-old Golden Retriever named Sugar, who is an absolute angel. We take great care of our home and would do the same for yours!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
