General Overview
Hey there, wanderlust pals! We’re Julie and Janis, lifelong friends with a zest for life which includes travel, adventure, fun and connecting with like-minded people. The wonderful PLU community ticks all our boxes and we’re ready to open our homes to YOU.
Our story so far is that we’ve been best friends for over 27 years. We met when our now 32 year old offspring were 5 years old (they are also best friends) and we’re now at the age and stage when we’re looking to explore distant lands and discover hidden gems in our own backyard which is Australia.
So pack your bags and get ready for your next adventure!
The Space
Our situation is quite unique in that we live side by side in two completely separate homes on one property. We feel that this offers the PLU community a huge amount of flexibility as we are able to offer our homes separately or together, depending on your needs.
Janis’ home is gorgeous two-storey one-bedroom townhouse with beautiful stained glass windows and a light, bright feel.
Julie’s home is a charming one-bedroom character cottage with a stunning garden surrounded by a picket fence.
With travel in mind, we completely redesigned a shared space at the back of our homes into two private walled courtyards with beautiful barn doors which can be fully locked for privacy or opened up if you are traveling with other adults and require the use of both homes.
Being in the heart of the inner city adds another layer of appeal. The convenience of having urban amenities at your doorstep allows you to feel deeply connected to the pulse of city life. Whether it's exploring the many cycle tracks close by or the ease of accessing trendy cafes and cultural events, our cottage and townhouse offer a hub for both relaxation and urban exploration.
Guest Access
The Cottage is on one level with easy access from the street through the front garden and also a security gate at the side too. The code for the gate and the key lock box will be made available to guests. Fabulous neighbours and nearby friends can be on hand should there be any problems at all.
The Townhouse is on two levels also with easy access from the street. As with Julie's home, the same fabulous neighbours and friends are available to assist. There is a security gate from the street and there will be a lockbox with code and keys provided.
Notes
We're open to negotiation on the use of our cars. We also have bikes which you can borrow and Perth's cycle tracks are plentiful.

Neighbourhood
Perth has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. It is the sunniest capital city in Australia with clear blue skies an incredible 70% of the year! Our warm weather and clean air allow us to enjoy a year-round outdoor lifestyle.
It's a mix of city glam and nature's beauty, with Cottesloe beach, the Swan River and Rottnest Island amongst the highlights. Mount Lawley and Highgate, the stylish suburbs, are the cool kids' hangout. Beaufort Street? It's a treasure trove of everything cool, from shops to award-winning restaurants and chilled-out coffee shops where you can enjoy the village vibe and full calendar of festivals, concerts and entertainment.
Perth is a mix of urban sophistication and natural beauty, including Kings Park – a massive green wonderland with panoramic views over the city and river below. Sprawling along the Indian Ocean and centred around the Swan River, Perth is one of the most scenic cities of Australia and has undoubtedly some of the world's most beautiful beaches and thanks to its west coast location, the sunsets here are always magnificent. With an excellent museum, art and cultural centre, Perth's Aboriginal and European culture comes together. Perth Festival in February is a highlight and our Fringe Festival is the third largest in the world.
Getting to my home
There are regular flights to Perth if you are arriving from overseas or interstate and it is a 20 minute taxi/Uber ride away. Alternatively the train from the airport stops at East Perth train station which is then only a short walk.
Nearest airport
Perth airport is about 20 minutes away by car or train. An Uber/taxi will cost approx $38
Getting Around
Only a few minutes walk is the train station connecting to the airport and 2 stops into Perth City. It would be very easy to manage without a car and use public transport to get around with buses also stopping at the end of the road.
Within walking distance is Mount Lawley with supermarket, the gourmet Fresh Provisions, bottle shops/off-licenses, cafes, pubs, wine bars and restaurants.
It is possible to walk into the city in around 30 minutes and to the lively area of Northbridge with its many restaurants and nightlife. There are parks and the river close by and the many beautiful beaches such as Cottesloe are a 20 min drive. The historic city of Fremantle is 30 minutes by car or train as is the wine growing region of the Swan Valley and Perth Hills.
A little further afield (3 hrs) is the famous Margaret River wine and surfing region.
