General Overview
Don't hesitate to contact us for a longer swap (max 4 weeks) to different part of the world. But it has to be during the Norwegian school vacation (end of June to mid Aug). South Europe is also of interest, and can be 2 weeks or so during summer vacation.
We could consider shorter exchanges too, closer to home, during long weekends, School holidays (such as 25th of Dec to 2nd of Jan) or during Easter (roughly 28th March to 7th of April).
Easy, quiet house with parking. Close to most things.
The Space
Our house has 2 floors: the main floor and a basement. On the main floor, you will find the kitchen and living room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. From the kitchen, there is direct access to the terrace and the garden. We have a nice view over the local fjord (Gands fjord) and mountains. In the basement, there is the secondary entrance, a bedroom, a bathroom, an office/guestroom with a sofabed, a TV-room/playroom and some storage rooms.
There is a somewhat large driveway with space for at least two cars. On the opposite side we have a garden with grass and small trees/bushes around, a terrace and paved areas. Some of the area is roofed bbq type area.
We have toys and games for both girls and boys inside and a trampoline outside.
In the summer, there are strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants to pick. We also have a cat, male and castrated.
In Norway, you can often experience all four seasons in one day, especially in spring and summer. So be prepared!
Guest Access
2 floors. Unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, but if you can walk a handful of steps and make it to the main floor you will find everything you need there and won't need to navigate to other floors.

Neighbourhood
Our house is in a residential area about 5 km from the center of Stavanger, close to shops, parks, sea and public transport and it is a great base to explore the many attractions of the region.
There is a small playground right in front of the house and we live at the foot of the forest of Sørmarka. There are nice walks in the forest and fantastic views of the city, the sea, the local fjord, islands and mountains. The closest bus stop is about 50 m away and a small supermarket Kiwi just 100 m away. A bit further down the hill, there is a football field (400 m) and larger supermarkets, pharmacy, bank, take-away places, bakery (1 km) and other shops. The local train station and the sea is about 2 km from the house. Vaulen Strand, the local beach, is very kids friendly with shallow water, playgrounds, toilets and barbecue areas (about 2,5 km).
The center of Stavanger is easy to access by car (10 min) or bus (15 min). It takes about 15 min to cycle as well. Old Stavanger is very charming with narrow streets and white wooden houses. In the center you will find good restaurants, cafés, shops, museums, departure for local ferries.
Lysefjorden, with the "Pulpit Rock" (Preikestolen) and Kjerag are within driving distance. You can also visit the nice sandy beaches on the ocean side, about 15 to 40 min drive depending on the beach. Possibilities of surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. There are great hiking possibilities around Stavanger.
Getting to my home
The easiest way to get here is by plane to Stavanger airport, and then car (15min drive depending on traffic) to the house. Direct flight routes from places such as Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Oslo and more. There is also a bus from the airport, but it is not very convenient unless you go to the city center.
It is also possible to get to Stavanger by train. It goes from Oslo, via Krisiansand.
If you come by car from the European continent, you may consider taking the ferry from Hirtshals, Denmark. Either to Kristiansand and drive the 3.5 hours from there, or directly to Stavanger (overnight voyage).
