Neighbourhood
Kensington is unique - it is a safe, friendly, charming hilltop village with amazing views. The village is located across from Golden Gate and San Francisco. Kensington is next door to Berkeley.
We have friendly neighbors who greet each other on walks around the neighborhood. Our house is in a quiet cul de sac in walking distance to Kensington park, playground, library and the gorgeous Blake Garden with free access. Tilden Regional Park is in walking distance and located right behind our neighborhood. Berkeley and San Francisco are located close by.
Being close to nature you will see many birds, butterflies, deer in our neighborhood. At night you will hear the peaceful sounds of our neighborhood owls.
Kensington has a famous and beautiful Farmers Market every Sunday. We have a local bakery, cafes, restaurants, flower shop, wine shop, several local grocery shops and a hardware store.
Berkeley and El Cerrito next door have tons of restaurants, supermarkets, cafes, shops. The famous Chez Panisse restaurant and Berkeley's gourmet area is a quick drive from our house.
The University of California, Berkeley, a world famous university with plenty of art, music, theater and culture in its vicinity is also a quick drive or bus trip away.
Nearest airport
SFO and Oakland International Airport are 28 and 21 miles away by car respectively. Nearest BART stop is 2,5 miles away and goes to both airports.
Getting Around
Bus stop is 5 minutes walk from the house. BART station is 2,5 miles away. Our friendly and charming neighborhood is peaceful and walkable and there is easy access to hiking trails. The neighborhood is hilly and it is convenient to have a car to get around on trips.
Major Bay Area destinations are just a short trip away:
• San Francisco: 30 minutes
• Wine Country: 45 minutes
• Carmel/Monterey: 2 hours
For a longer adventure, you can explore some of California's most stunning natural landscapes, with Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park both about a four-hour drive, offering fantastic opportunities for skiing and camping.
