General Overview
Visiting our part of the world is a bit like stepping back in time. We live in southern Tasmania at the edge of a little village called Woodbridge. It's situated about 40 mins south of Hobart between Kettering and Flowerpot. The roads are a little rural, and life moves at a slower pace than the rest of the world.
We have water views over D'entrecasteaux Channel looking towards Bruny Island from almost every room. We can swim or kayak from directly across the road at the end of our driveway (though the acclimatization to cold water took a little time).
Beware, many come house sitting to our area and end up moving here. (We did too!)
The Space
Downstairs we have a large guest bedroom, a small sitting room with a fold out settee, a large office area and a small bathroom.
Upstairs is a large kitchen, butler's pantry, rec room containing large tv, bar and european laundry behind sliding doors, dining/living room, sunroom, large bathroom with bath, master bedroom with ensuite and another smaller bedroom with a double bed, which also serves as a second office (and sometime sewing room).
There is a long deck along the front of the house wonderful for morning coffees and breakfasts in sunny weather, and a large, sheltered deck at the back adjoining the rec room, which catches the afternoon sun.
Guest Access
The house is 2 storey, so difficult for anyone unable to climb a few stairs. Even with the use of the entire house there are still at least two steps to manouvre to access the upper living level.
We can set up so you can do limited cooking downstairs if you want complete privacy at times when we are hosting, but I assure you won't go hungry if we're at home. Ian loves to cook.
Notes
We are on tank water, which tastes delicious compared to town water. After heavy rains visitors will need to pump water up to the storage tanks. Not a difficult task, just switch a pump on and set a timer for an hour.
We also have two beehives at the back of the property. They look after themselves and are generally placid, and we have lovely honey, but probably not the ideal house if you have a serious bee allergy.

Neighbourhood
The village has a cafe, post office, village hall, church and restaurant, and we have a community centre behind us which has a library (loans games and jigsaws as well as books), op shop, gym, community shed and various other activities. There is a community movie shown in the village hall on the third Friday of each month, also a market once a month.
There are also cold-water swimming groups that swim from the local jetty at 7 and 8am each morning. On Christmas day most of the village turns out at 8am to do a communal Jetty Jump.
Nearby there are wineries, cideries, distilleries, cheeseries (is there such a word?), Five Bob farm (with a lovely sculpture trail). There are various hiking destinations of various difficulty levels within driving distance - the Tahune air walk and Hartz mountains are an hour and a half away.
Or you can just chill out and enjoy the view.
The closest supermarket is 15 minutes away by car.
Hobart with all its attractions is 35 minutes away by car, just under an hour by bus.
Getting to my home
The drive from the airport is around an hour or less depending on time of day. There are SkyBuses from the airport to Hobart but then only a couple of buses a day down to our neck of the woods.
Nearest airport
Hobart international airport is 56km from us. 53 mins by car, 1hr 48mins by bus (if you can get the connections).
Getting Around
To be able to explore you'd be best hiring a car. Ours may be available, depending on insurance issues.

Lynette
There's just the 2 of us, Lyn & Ian. We're both mid-60's, so we're not partiers or smokers, though we like a nice wine now and then.
We're both retired from owning our own business and would like to see more of the world before we get really old! We've been (and still are) house sitters so have references if required.
"We're coming to the UK house sitting in mid Aug to mid Sept and would like to explore Scotland beforehand, then Italy afterwards."
Sep 22, 2025 - Oct 5, 2025 (Flexible)
"We'd like to explore a little of Italy after a 5 week house sit in England, staying a couple of nights each in a few places. Very happy with hosting as we realise a swap to Tasmania in Australia is a huge leap for such a short time."
