General Overview
Large 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom family home. There is also a double sofa bed for use if required. Contemporary countryside family home with river frontage and lush landscapes
Quietly located a few short minutes from the heritage town of Strathalbyn, our breathtaking 4 bedroom home offers contemporary luxury combined with beautiful chic country charm.
Spread across over 1.5 acres of lush green landscape, this is a dream home of comfort and easy family living.
The Space
Entering to a wide hallway of polished Jarrah timber floors and high 3.6m ceilings, there is an immediate sense of size and space inviting you in to the open-plan kitchen, living and dining where thoughtful architecture provides broad garden views.
Designed for the best in family living and friendly entertaining, the generously open space is a joy for all seasons. There’s a feature double-sided fireplace for the winter or open the doors during summer and spring to enjoy the garden and alfresco with weekend barbeques, pizzas from the giant wood oven by the huge alfresco and twilight dinners with the family!
The spacious kitchen features bespoke solid timber cabinetry, stainless steel top-quality appliances and sleek induction cooktop, double size oven, gorgeous marble bench tops, coffee machine, a huge butler’s pantry, and large island with handy breakfast bar.
Wide folding glass doors and full width fly screen seamlessly blend the light-filled casual living to a timber-lined pitched outdoor entertaining area perfectly framing the rolling countryside dotted with native shrubs and slender gumtrees beyond, home to a host of birdlife. While for a more intimate or cosy setting, the spacious formal lounge with sleek marble mantled fireplace and garden views provides a welcomed relaxing and private space.
The stunning main bathroom is central to the property and features dual vanities, stylish cement free-standing bathtub, and more exquisite marble bench tops and soothing heated floor tiling. With three large nearby bedrooms, there is clever interior design as well as functionality here.
Spilling with natural light, the master suite is located at the private end of the home and features a huge walk-in robe with spacious designer ensuite, dual vanities, huge double shower, heated floors, more contemporary cabinetry and large windows.
For those in need of a quiet place to work, there is a perfect office overlooking the front garden with elegant library shelving.
What’s the vibe living in Golden Acre? Very laid back! It’s probably best described as contemporary country living. The house is of grand proportions, yet still feels cosy and homely. The block of land we sit on like most in our locality has plenty of room to roam. On one side is a small hobby farm with goats, to the other a similar property to our own. Because we back on to the river, there is abundant bird life such as ducks, swamp hens, galahs, wagtails, blue fairy hens, cockatoos and lots more. It’s a rarity, but not unknown, to see a kangaroo bouncing across the lawn early on a Sunday morning, or a koala peeking through the alfresco doors late at night. We have our own private jetty, so why not try a bit of fishing. The sunsets from the back silhouetting the distant gum trees are often breathtaking (photos included to give you a flavour).
There are plenty of board games for the children and adults of course and there is a ping pong table. We also have two (almost new) adult electric bikes available for use.
Guest Access
All ground floor with a small step up into the property either from the front or rear doors or from the double garage. Bench tops are supersize set at 10cm higher and 10 cm deeper than standard.

Neighbourhood
We live 5 minutes outside the heritage country town of Strathalbyn with its beautiful central river park setting, ideal for an easy picnic, the motor and heritage museums, multiple antique shops and a fantastic outdoor swimming pool. Langhorne Creek, one of the most prolific and understated wine regions in Australia, is a short 10 minutes drive from our home and has not only world class wines and cellar doors, but amazing quality cuisine such as at Lake Breeze Winery and at The Winehouse. Day tripping is perfect from Golden Acre with a vast range of clean sandy beaches across the Fleurieu Peninsula from those sweeping miles to intimate coves. There are more cellar doors and restaurants of every size, shape and setting you could imagine across the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley, all within easy day excursions. There’s so much variety, you could be forgiven for not wanting to leave! If the attractions of one of the world’s most liveable cities appeals, then it’s a leisurely and scenic hours drive from Adelaide, consistently voted as one of the best.
